Called 4 different local Ford dealers today to get pricing on complete flush services. Very confused. Prices are all over the board and 2 use a JB machine and 2 use a BG flush machine. Can anyone advise with the difference, which one is better, and why pricing seems to be so much different between dealers for essentially the same service? I would have thought they would be a universal standard price of sorts.
Looking at:
- Transmission Flush
- Coolant Flush
- Power Steering Flush
- Brake Flush
- Fuel Injection Flush

I'm shure others will chime in but personally i've never paid for either trans, coolant,PS,or brakes to be flushed. Do it yourself and save some cash and don't forget to recycle the old fluids.

Only way to really "flush" injectors is to pull them and pressure clean them. Odds of a clogged injector are pretty rare though...

What is a 'dealer?'

BJ's are the best:beer:.
At work we sell the BG products all do the same thing with similar products. Do these products do some good yes Have I ever seen the fix a car no. I think the key components of most of these services are the fact that the fluid is replaced. I personally have never done one to any of my cars but I do regularly change my fluids(trans, ps, & coolant). The price is all over the board because each shop can charge differnt labor time and shop rates, also there is a markup on the product. There is no set price like labor times using Alldata or Chilton.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. Do you feel these flushes would do good then if done regularly (ie: trans. flush every 15k)? I am not a huge wrench turner and need to rely on a shop for most of these fluid changes. It's hard these days as many dealers won't change fluids conventionally but rather default to these type of machines for the services. I have heard there is a financial partnership incentive of sorts as well between lets say BG and the dealer with number of flushes performed etc. That's why I have a hard time trusting if it is a good service or just some ulterior motive for the dealers benefit.

Any time you change your fluid your replacing the worn out additive package in the fluid. That is a good thing also on a side note our cars the torque converter can shutter if the trans fluid is worn out so replacing fluids is good. You are 100% correct about the incentive the dealership, service writer, and the tech all get a bonus for selling a BG product:rolleyes:. There are good shops and there are bad shops all I can say is ask around for peoples recommendations for which shop you should trust. If you have any dough about work being performed or not, You can allways walk back and checkup on your car and don't be afraid to ask questions

Every 15K is really more frequent than is necessary unless your car sees severe duty. Follow the recommendations in the service manual and you should be fine.

If you have high miles now I really don't recommend a flush, Its really not necessary at all. just drop the pan and change the fluid that way and install a new filter.

they are just different brands of machine, no big deal they do exactly the same thing.

Like others have said, you can also drop the trans pan and change filter and top off the level and call it good.

I'm looking to change my transmission oil and gear oil but I was wondering where do I pour back in the trans oil? Also does royal purple make a trans oil filter or which is best?

Down the tube where the fluid level check stick is.

Perfect! Also I want to change the gear oil myself, how do I go about and is it difficult?

Jack up car.
Remove differential fill plug.
Remove differential cover.
Allow old fluid to drain.
Replace differential cover.
Refill with fresh fluid.
Replace differential fill plug.
Done

You don't have to remove the cover. Get one of those siphons.

How do you flush your own trans? You have a machine?
