I got 24 on the highway, then installed 4.10s and immediately dropped to 20-21. Then a few years later I put on the Trilogy kit and it is around 18, and sometimes much, much lower.
So I stopped checking. I'll worry about mileage with my work car instead.

Currently 18.3 mpg with 270 miles on the tank and still have about 4-5 gallons left. Larger tires in the winter cut the mileage down some, normally I'm 19-21 city/highway mixed. I've gotten 26-27 mpg before on a nice long haul, no stops, steady 72mph until had to refuel.
18-19 mpg normaly never had above 22mpg
On hot boy nights through the city I've gotten as low as 13 mpg and on a nice steady road trip to Hampton VA I got an astonishing 27 mpg. I just got a CAI but it really helps when you drive like grandma. This is the most fuel efficient car I've ever owned. Since it's no longer a DD I'm curious to see what a tune, exhaust, wider rear tires, and 4.10's are going to bring.

Brought a friend to visit his family for the first time in a year.
I drove from Home to Philly and back and just as I got off the highway the low fuel light came on.
Round trip 388 miles between high way and city BS.
So I averaged about 19 to 20 miles per gallon. I would say that is pretty good. And on the highway I usualy drive a steady 75 mph with the cruise control on.

With 4.10s and a tune, 17-19 mixed. I climb into the low 20s on freeway hauls and I drop down to 15 when I'm mashing the pedal at every light and staying out of overdrive to engagine in tomfoolery.

I get better gs milage in the warmer months than the colder months. I drove to the cape one time during the summer and averaged 80 mph on the highway.
I got to there and 3/4 of the way back before I needed to put gas in her again. It was after 400 miles that the low fuel light came on.
So I was running faster on the highway and it was mid summer and got better fuel economy so go figure.
I found her sweet spot to be 2100 RPM's. As long as I keep her in that range I get the best gas milage. And that is @ 80 MPH to hit that RPM range for the stock gears.

with this one my best MPG on the highway has been 18mpg at 80mph on cruise control, and 13mpg on the city.

I dont feel so bad reading some of your numbers!
I average ~18.5 in my commute. Morning drive in is at 75, the drive home is at 30 bumper to bumper. No real long highway trips for me in her yet.
As for driving style, well, no grand pa driving for me, what can I say, I enjoy the car!

It depends on the time of year, and of course the driving mood at the time as the enclosed chart shows.
Light blue line is the overall average.
Dark blue line shows that my MM isn't my primary driver since I bought the 09 Jetta.
Dark green line high MPG in the May/June/July time frame reflects the movement of my MM from Omaha to Vandenberg AFB, back to Omaha, and then onto Southern MD.
I get a solid 22 MPG on the highway at 70 MPH with the AC on in 100 degree OT's, with my mods.
Another member I know has reported as high as 26 MPG at 75 MPH, (tune & CAI), on the Interstate.
I won't say his name but his initials are "James79stang".

I'll have to figure out what mine is and get back to all of you. I'll have to start tracking this. But I'd have to imagine that I'm in the Marauder Hypermiler club. I use cruise control almost all of the time and drive like a grandpa (except on rare occassions :burnout:) so I seem to not have to fill up that often. Just really trying to save money these days with the economy. And California traffic is so congested and gas is more expensive out here then back in Indiana. And its an hour or more commute. To avoid the congestion, I take off to work and back before and after traffic has died down. Unfortunately, its usually super early or super late :mad2:. But I can always go to Fry's Electronic store and hang out there if I don't need to actually work late :). I also carpool to work with someone a lot who drives a hybrid and I do take the train/lightrail a lot but these at least saves me gas $ for when I have the need for speed or really feel like a comfortable cruise in the MM.

Just checked my maint. logs.
stock 04 MM
453 gal / 9,811 miles = 21.64 mpg.
For my best, according to my scanguage I got 28 mpg driving at 50-60mph on US highways on the Silver Springs Pony Trail from Ocala to Cedar Key in Jan 09.
run-down 01 CV ex-cop car with 125,000 miles:
26,774 miles / 1326 gal. = 20.19 mpg, almost exclusively stop & go.
When I have to drive the MM to work, I average about 19.5. On the highway, the CV averages about 2 mpg less than the MM, even with 3.27:1 gears. Both cars get optimal mileage at 55-60 mph (scanguage).

I've owned my Marauder since last October driving it home from around Nashville I got the best mileage at 24.2 MPG. Since then lowest has been 17.9 and average has been 21.5. Speed is 55 everywhere around here so many back road drives for this car. Atlanta fuel is really bad too! Drops my old cars by 15% on average (old Mustang and Cougars with 351C's).
I have the cold air kit which is going in soon and the 4.10's are in the living room too!
For +4200 lbs and 302 HP I am pretty happy with the mileage I am getting.
Dave
In the Marauder? Never tracked it, never will. About 3 years I did have a brand new Toyota Highlander Hybrid that would tell you what your miles per gallon were. Now it doesn't tell me anything. But neither does that ***** of an ex-wife I had to give it to, so it worked out fan-****ing-tastic.

I've had the car almost 8 years and it's no longer the car we travel in (the Flex is the travel wagon now) the Marauder is now my anti-depressant on the weekends, just me and 9 to 10 pounds of boost depending on whether it is very hot or cool.
I checked mpg in the early days both before and after The Trilogy Kit. The kit did not affect mpg at all, my right foot did.
14 mpg= all city driving (having fun).
18 mpg= mixed, 60% city, 40% highway.
24 mpg= 100% highway (26 mpg capable, just not much fun).
The above is all after The Boost. information about my car is listed below and in the Garage. I don't check mpg anymore, haven't for years.

Sorry to jump in on an old thread, but back poking around for a while. Sure miss this place, but not a lot of time to come online anymore, or as much free $ to spend on my MM!
Mine started out close to the stated OEM 18-23 I think, and was pretty close to that, although I have a lot of city driving so the combo mileage was around only around 18.5. Best freeway miles I ever got was 23 on a long trip at high speed. It was usually around 20.
Then got the SCT tune and 4:10's and combo hiway/city dropped from 18.5 to 17. Then did the complete Level II tranny rebuild and PI3000 stall TC and dropped another 1.5 mpg to 15.5. Went with the Nitto's last year after no longer being able to get the TA gForce radials in my size, and they have been great, but combo mileage dropped to 15!
Just logged on today because like an idiot I ran out of gas today for the first time in 6 years. My ScanGauge II insisted I had 20 miles left to empty, so I pushed it. Must have reset the connection sometime in the last couple of weeks, that has happened once before.
Anyway, was going up a slight grade, the engine died. Left the key on and switched to neutral, and coasted over 1 mile (luckily I was out in the sticks so was able to slowly coast thru a couple of stop signs), then was forced to stop at a light.
Figured I was dead, but pushed the pedal 2x and it fired right up. Drove 500 yards to a gas station, and it was still running when I shut down. Hope I didn't fry something, but guess I'll find out. I've babied this thing, so hopefully it will be OK.
Until reading today, and as much as I've done to the car, I had no idea that running the tank low was hard on the FP. From now on I'll fill up when the light comes on, and that's only 250 miles.
Nice to read your info and see some old faces here.
Best,
Norm

On my firsr (stock with Superchips tune) I once got 25+ MPG at a steady 80MPH on I 95 hesding to Florida. Cannot say as much for current car. Although on a 300+ mile trip pacing my wife's Lincoln MKX, the current car used only 1.5 gallons more than the 3.5L V-6 in the MKX for the run.

Average 18 to 20 around home (depending on driving habits).
Highway travel (going south and north to and from work) 24 to 26.
Worst was the first tank after my header install 15 mpg (I kinda like the sound at high rpm's).
Best was 29.8 on the highway once. I was trying to not catch a storm on my way home from Tennessee. Drove from Bristol VA to almost Allentown PA at 55 to 60 mph. There's a thread here somewhere about it, complete with photos.

What formula are you folks using to calculate this? I mean seriously, how could you possibly, accurately, know you got 12.5 or 32.8?
MPG = Miles Travelled / Gallons Used. :D
For instance on my 2009 trip to Louisville, KY, I started with a full tank of gas. Drove 1,292 miles. Topped off the tank and figured I had used 52.7 gallons door-to-door.
MPG = 1292 miles /52.7 gallons = 24.5 MPG
Average over a long trip is the best way to do it. Not as accurate on those short stints.

I fill the car until I can see the fuel above the little flap in the filler neck. Wait a few seconds, and repeat until I can get no more gas in. Then, reset the trip odometer and drive. When the tank gets low, I repeat the process. This way, you're sure you're getting accurate fuel consumption numbers. Take the number of miles you have traveled, divide by the number of gallons you just put in, and you have mpg. You can go as many decimal places as needed.

I get about 340-350 km from fill-up to the low-fuel light coming on (60 litres, I think), on a pretty even mix of always-heavy-footed hwy/city driving. That's 212-218 miles per 15.8 gallons, or about 13.5 mpg. Oh... that's tuned for 94 octane gas, too.
