well some may know when i did my eaton swap i moved the battery to the drivers side. in order to do that i had to delete the washer fluid bottle which i didnt really like but it worked for the time being. so today i installed a group 58 battery in the car and a fox body tray. this allowed me to put the fluid bottle back in.
here is the way it was set up before with stock battery and modified tray

installation of the fox tray was pretty easy all i did was grind off the material from the bottom onf the tray, drill 2 holes and bolted it to the header panel.

Nice job, Dave.
But I have to ask-why not in the trunk?
i really dont want to put it there for 2 reasons
1 is i like it to look factory when you open the hood and 2, is that i really dont want to run wires to the trunk.

To be track legal a trunk mount requires an external shutoff/disconnect switch.

lol, how is any of that a can of worms? The battery box is a simple thing, and the good ones have hold downs that come with them. My battery has been in the trunk since 03. Unless you are going fast enough to need a cage I wonder what the chances are that the tech guy would tell you to get a cut off. . . In my case I've been to 3 different tracks over the years, some more times than others, never been an issue. PS running a cut off really isn't a big deal.

If you go to Atlanta for any of the SSHS events they will check that you have a shutoff switch. It can't just cut battery power, it also has to kill the engine.

Still not a big deal to run the system to do that. Wouldn't even have to be a bother in day to day driving. Could remove the pass tail light when race time comes and run the rod right through there. Remove rod, replace light, go home.

Well around here you won't race with a battery in the trunk without a cut off, which means drilling a hole for a shut off,i haven't any MM.net members in New England that would be willing to do that. I look at the majority of the pics on here and only find people making there cars go faster without sacrificing the look of the car.

Where do you have to drill a hole? Run the rod out the tail light hole... the rod threads on and off the cut off in seconds, and it takes maybe 2 minutes to remove a tail lamp

Some tracks require you to have functional brake/tail lights, especially if you're running at night (most T&T sessions are at night). So just removing the light isn't an option.

If you go to the track without the stuff you need to race then that is your business. That's like going to the track without your helmet, simply silly. If you need x,y,z thing to run at the track, take 30 seconds and make sure you have it all before you drive 2 hours
PS when you do the install properly the engine cuts when the shut off is pulled.

lol what are you even talking about? If you can't remember to take your stuff to a track 2 hours away that's your problem. . . that doesn't make something a "can of worms", that's a personal problem not an equipment problem.
Not forgetting my stuff at home makes me a noob? Try again, I've been racing cars since I was 14. Funny how quick you have to resort to off topic attacks because your "can of worms" theory has no merit. Try harder next time.
