so I bought a 'new' oil pressure gauge off ebay for $30. I get it and it turns out it is not new. the edge of the ring is worn and it has the autometer face on it! what would a kindly worded letter to the seller look like? I don't have much tact and I don't think 'this isn't new. give me my money back' will work. :help:

Did this gauge come with a sender? Also, does it have threaded studs on the back (for the connections) or do the wires come directly out of the case?
If it has the threaded studs, then it least it's "real"...a new gauge and sender set are about $53 plus tax and shipping from Summit or Jegs, so you might still have gotten a deal...
And why is having an AutoMeter face on it bad?

oh, my bad. let my clarify
I wanted another OEM oil gauge for the mm so I could mess with that one and not screw up the one in my car. I wanted the face from it to put on my autometer gauge which I already have(bought from a local speed shop).
its a 'new' OEM gauge that's obviously worn and with a different face. (its already been swapped!)

Is it the same guage that was pictured in the auction?
I remember seeing the auction, and thought the picture looked right for a MM guage. So if that isn't what was sent, tell the guy. Maybe he just made a mistake in what he packed?

the pic is what he sent. i guess i should have checked closer but the thought didn't cross my mind because it says its:
This is a brand new Ford service part. It is an Oil presure gauge for the console of the Maruader. It is in perfect condition.

Well Fat, I'd contact him. Tell him it looks used, and doesn't look like a brand new Ford service part
Maybe you can work something out.
