Hello,

First I want to say this forum is great and has tons of helpful information. I have recently purchased a 2003 Black Marauder with 85k miles. :) The front shocks are shot as it rides terrible in the front.

I searched on this forum and several users have recommended the Motorcraft OEM shocks (part # ASH711 - $128 each) versus KYB (part # 551602 - $79 each) or Monroe Severe Shock Absorber (part #553001 - $72 each). All of these prices are from RockAuto.com. I've heard Naake are the best but I am not looking to spend a lot and have to customize before installing.

Is the general consensus to use the Motorcraft OEM shocks?
Is it possible my coil springs in the front also need to be placed at the same time as the OEM shocks?

For those that have changed the front shocks/coils were there any additional parts (spacer, nut, bolt, etc) that you needed for the install?

Thanks again for the input!

Take a look at you sprigs is the powder coating flaking off? If so and you plan on keeping the the car for some time couldn't hurt to replace the springs. ask for the old parts back and keep them.

Good idea ntd, what brand of front coil spring is most recommended or installed by Marauder fans?

Of the front coils available on RockAuto.com which do you recommend?
1. MOOG part #80668 - $78 pair
2. Husky Spring #SC20324 - $92 pair
3. ACDelco #45H0294 - $95 pair

I have changed shocks and coils in the past on older vehicles. Is there anything magic when changing the shock and coil on the front of a Marauder?

Thanks again.

Never had a probelm with them nor did I ever have to change them again on a customers cars.

And for the kids that wanted some lift in the rear I would use their cargo coils instead of the standard one's because they do push back well even after adding weight to the car carrying stuff.

But my opinion only I am sure other people have theirs as well.

I have a pair of virtually new Moog #80668 front coil springs available for sale. Less than 20 miles on them. PM me if interested.

Not too hard, they're coilovers.
