Throttle Body Cleaning Questions

On the car, not running.

Get throttle body cleaner.

Might want to do your MAF while your at it.

Again, get MAF cleaner.

If you do it with the car on you will be at WOT.... Not a good idea!

Step 1: Remove it, set it on rags on top of your trash can/washing machine/dryer/work bench/whatever.
Step 2: Spray it, spray it some more, tilt it, spray it more, turn it, spray it more, let it drain a little, turn it over, spray more and more until the spray is running off of it CLEAR, then you know you got it ALL the gunk off and out of it.
Step 3: Put it all back together.
Step 4: Celebrate showing that throttle body who's boss by having a cold beer.

You can tape over the plug outlet, but the cleaner will eat the sticky stuff off quick fast and in a hurry and the tape will just fall off so don't worry about it.

I clean mine with the motor running. Not a problem. No WOT, just a little finesse.....

Personally, I take it off, use brake cleaner and an old tooth brush. Works great.
