Cobra badging on left and right front fenders. I ordered a set and can't decide if it looks badass or ruins the clean, stealth look of the car. My gut tells me that the extra badging seems to go against the overall design intent. Thoughts?

TOOL!

It's not a Cobra, nor an SVT or Police Interceptor!

Don't make it out to be one.

How do you figure MM is SVT? By that logic, MarkVIIIs and Continentals are SVT products, too. SVT motors are hand-built on a niche line, by two individuals whose names are stamped on the valve cover. I could see if SVT did make SVT MMs and people were trying to clone them(which is also kinda gay), but putting an SVT badge on a MM automatically says "bull*****ter", since SVT never made them. It's ricey and is equivalent to the queer fake "type-r" badges IMHO.
I never understood fake badging: why in the world would you want to give the factory credit for something that YOU built?

I have a small script on the blank panel next to the back up lights that says "supercharged". Tried other locations but didn't like breaking up the clean look.

However, people have opted for individualistic badging. personally, I don't subscribe to badging that denotes something the car is not, like SVT or Cobra or Dually, ETC.

But, a V8 badge or Marty O's fender badge looks good and is an accurate description of the car.

"badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"

I've always preferred the lead-sled look on almost every car. Badges are sometimes OK if they have some historical reference, i.e. the four leaf clover on the front fender of an Alfa Romeo. There are no badges on my MM.

I do love Cobras though. When the independent rear suspension makes its return, I'm in.

How these 2 craptastic pieces of crap made the SVT list is asstounding. "Contour" sounds like a feminine hygiene applicator. When I remodeled my master bathroom last year I went with a japanesey theme, and over the back of the toilet is a framed script/scroll that translates to "Focus".

I get what you're saying, but I bet a bolt-on SVT Contour or Focus would spank a lot of cars on here. Not flying the flag for them or anything, but they are fast from the factory and respond well to mods:shrug:.

The MM engine is in some respects similar to the '99-'01 Cobra engine, which was 2 years old in '03. It is more similar to an automatic '03-'04 Mach1 than a Cobra. In '03, Ford should have just put Terminator motors in the MM from the factory. Then they could have made decent power, and been legitimately SVT badged. Definitely would have made the MM more popular IMHO.
But obviously I'm not into what's popular, look at what I'm building...ROTFL:burnout:

If our cars had Cobra engines, Cobra badges might be pretty cool. Thanks to the insights of those far more experienced with the plaform than me, I've learned that MMs do not in fact have Cobra engines. Therefore, it can be concluded that Cobra badging on a MM would be questionable at best. Thanks for all the feedback. Looking forward to meeting many of you at Carlisle this summer.

BTW, anyone have any extra Navigator badges? Hahahah. :D:D

For over a month now, my MM sits in the garage, under a cover, with a battery tender. I can't wait for better weather and clean roads so I can unleash the beast.

i liked and agreed with massacre/nothingsense posts... if its a nice stock mm, why goof it up ? of course its your car and money..;. all mods of any kind make your car, worth less... think of it this way 10 years from now going through barret-jackson auction, with it be worth more pure stock, or lots of badges on it all over..???? ralph sr./rkvette

Ha! The focus SVT was probably the best all around car of all the svt's until the latest ones (GT, GT 500, Raptor). It had a significant upgrades in performance, braking and handling on a much better platform then the previous mustang platform.
I liked them but I didn't really appreciate what a well designed package they were until I bought one though.

Oh, and as far as badges, I have the "turbo 32v charged" emblem (in my avatar) on there. If people don't notice it before they decide to play, too bad for them. :)

You obviously haven't driven either of these cars. I've owned 2 Contour SVTs, I can tell you firsthand they are still the best bang for the buck out there. Great engine, excellent interior and awesome through the twisties.

Yes, the RS came from the SVT & st170, but kept the SVT styling. The new one will still look similar. 3234 lbs curb weight, 5 cylinder NA, 301 hp, 325 ft-lbs, 0-62 in 5.9 secs, 163 mph top end!! Still not AWD, but how would you like to have that imported!!!! :D
