So Saturday my wife, 7 year old daughter and I are driving on the expressway on our way to my inlaws. While cruising along at 65mph I hear my baby girl begin to choke on a piece of candy and barely hear her say mommy. My wife being a nurse for 15 years quickly jumped into the back seat to quickly give her the Heimlich Maneuver as I quicky raced across 2 lanes of traffic and an off ramp to the shoulder. As I jumped out of the car and went to open the rear door, guess what. The F***ing door was locked!!! How much could it have possibly cost for Ford to put that auto unlock when opening the drivers door. F*** my 1999 Jeep has it and it too can be disabled. I finally found one thing I HATE about this car.

Thank god my wife was there to save our daughters life.

Thats just bull***** that the Marauder does not have auto unlocking doors when you park it and open the drivers door.
Just my 2 cents (probably the cost for Ford cheap F***s)
I just wanted to vent.

good to hear that your daughter is fine. and you know what i hate that part of my car to. i love having my door unlocked all the time. it should be when you unlock and lock the drivers door all the doors should do the same. hell my 97 elantra does that.

It is an option that I believe you can program out. The alternative is that some gang banger jumps in at the light and jacks your car. Glad your daughter is O.K. E.

+1 use selectable option.

Check the manual, I think if you hop on one leg in counter-clockwise circles around the car under a full moon you can turn on the auto unlock feature....maybe.

I guess my viper alarm is the reason why when i put it in park it unlocks all doors.

Yeah bro do you still have your owners manual?
You need to check your options.

I'm glad your daughter is ok, but by the time you pulled over and got out, it seems your wife already had things under control and it didn't matter that you, in your haste, forgot to push the button that unlocks all the doors.

And like others said, check the owners manual and there may be a way to change the unlock settings. I myself, do not want all 4 doors to unlock everytime I put my car in park.

Same here. Glad everything worked out ok, but I like it the way it is. And I don't believe the rear doors can be programmed to unlock automatically. An aftermarket alarm system may do it.

Glad it all worked out, kids are precious. I'm going to have to agree with knines logic, I like the fact that the doors stay locked. Hey if it ever happens again you can get Bawazir to kick your window out, he's a lean mean kicking machine, ya know.

One thing about the rear doors that I wish was a little different... I wish the child safety switch had 3 positions. 1, the inside rear door handles don't open the doors. 2, the inside rear door handles open the doors but the locks have to be unlocked separately. 3, the inside rear door handles open the doors and unlock the doors simultaneously like the front doors.

When people sit in my back seat they get pissed off because they can't get out of the car! The front doors unlock themselves when you pull on the handle, but the back doors my passengers pull up on the door lock to unlock it because I ALWAYS forget that my passengers can't get out! I don't like that either... Damn children and their safety...

This is the way all Fords w/ power locks have been since the 80's. You just have to use the button and they all unlock. The Button!!!

Happy to hear that your daughter was OK in the end. But the same thing happened to me once in an old Plymouth. My father and I were in the front seat eating and my mother was eating with her feet up on the bench seat in the back. All of a sudden I hear a weak gasp, and I turn around to see that she had a small bone blocking her wind pipe and was choking.

The van was old and had almost nothing that was electrically powered. I jumped out and tried to open the door but it wouldn't open because they were locked. I had to think quickly and reach in and around the pillar to pop the lock from the inside and pull her out to administer the Heimlich.

Everything turned out fine, but I will say that the Marauder is a great improvement as far as I'm concerned. The auto-lock when you shift to drive has saved my ass, as I don't live in the greatest of areas, the auto lights when its dark, and the passenger side button to unlock the doors. I've never driven a safer car.

I agree. I hate it to because when I'm showing homes my clients always get locked in the back unless I remember to hit unlock all the time. Its very annoying for both them and myself.

I also hate that I can't fold the back seats down for more room.
