:DThe weather turned just nice enough on this past Saturday to give the Bluerauder a nice wash and wax. As I was giving the car the final touches with Turtle Wax ICE, a guy came walking up the street and commented that "That is one sharp looking Crown Vic". I think he was just in the area visiting relatives.

I immediately stated that "It's not a Crown Vic ... It's a Marauder". He said that he knew about Marauders; but that they were too expensive. I mentioned that they listed for around $35K when they were new; but that many folks got them for considerably less than that because they were just sitting on dealer lots. Got mine for $27,500 at the end of the '03 model year.

We talked about the car, specs, local clubs and the MM.Net. He got interested when I told him about Maraudervilles, Indianapolis back in October and the upcoming Louisville, Carlisle, New Hampshire and Charlotte events.

He may have spent the rest of the weekend looking for an MM of his own.

BTW -- the Bluerauder does look "very sharp" when it is all clean and shiney. He wasn't wrong about that part. :D

I hope you weren't offended...! :o

After all, Mercury really didn't market the MM effectively to the general public, so unless you happen to be one who already knew about MMs based on personal interest, the car looks to most people like a 'sharp looking Crown Vic'------and that's only because most people recognize the CV shape based on their familiarity with cars driven by LEOs. this means that some automatically think "Crown Vic" simply because it's an easy and familiar reference.

Everybody on this board knows the MM is quite different from a CV, but most out there in the world simply do not....
