This may not be the best forum to post this but this is where all the tech people are so here I go.
I'm looking to buy a MM but I have some questions.
1. What trans did they use in 2003 vs the 2004?
2. Does the motor have forged internals?
3. Will the motor share the basic boltons at the Cobra?
4. What options is offered in the 04 that the 03 dosn't offer?
5. What is the meaning of life?

thanks,
Wade

STANGMAN - Welcome to the site. You came to the right place. If you want Red you have to go for an 04. Blue an 03 ( the rarest of the MM's IMO ). Black or Silver either year. There are presently only 3 options, trunk organizer, 6 pack trunk mounted CD player, and heated seats which were offered with the 2003 300B models and of course the 2004's.

Welcome aboard Stangman.
1)'03 MM uses the 4R70W tranny, '04 uses the 4R75W with different 1st & 2nd gear ratios. Torque converters are the same for both.
2) probably not
3) some, the block is the one used in the '99 and '01 Cobra. You might be able to upgrade throttle bodies and underdrive pulleys.
4) Dark Toreador Red instead of Blue, and a chance later on for a moonroof (we will see for the latter).
5) It's a Live and Learn world out there. Live it the way you have to and learn from it.

Thanks for the replys guys! I am just concerned about the trans in the 2003. Why is Mercury saying theree is a stronger trans for 2004? Do the 03's have problems. I just don't like auto's because I always have bad luck with them but the MM dosn't offer a manual so I have to live with it. I would like to get a used 03 but if the trans is that much different I may have to grab my ancle's and buy a new 04.

Most of the '03 trans problems I've heard are on S/C cars. Someone (I forget who  ) is supposed to be working on a bullet-proofed 4R70W for us '03 owners.

BTW- Someone put a 6 Speed Tremco in a MM, it was at the SEMA show.
