I purchased a used 90mm MAF sensor. How do I check to know for sure it is a 90mm ?

If it's closer to 3.5" it's an 80, if it's closer to 4" it's a 90.

Now I understand. The large round tube. I thought the MAF sensor was the thing that screws into the intake tube that has four small probs with wires in between them. That explains why I thought it was a great deal.

You are correct, the sensor is actually the element. But the commonly used specification is the diameter of the housing. There are lots of options nowdays with the '05 and newer sensor element since it can easily be mounted and calibrated to virtually any size tube. Mine is from JLT, a 110 mm (4-1/2") tube with the '05 up sensor element. Lots of blow-thru supercharger and even mustang turbo setups mount the '05 up element into the throttle body elbow or some other section of tubing.

If thats the case can I just cut a section of 4"pvc pipe used for the housing & cut another hole to mount the sensor ?
Standard PVC does not like underhood temps and can warp.
The make special MAF flanges for such an idea but to be welded to metal pipe.
Creating a 4" inlet for a plain jane eaton swap will not benefit you or your power numbers.

Actually too big can be a detriment when it comes to tuning. Range vs sensitivity, it's a tradeoff.

Use ABS pipe, not PVC.

I think ABS pipe comes in different scheduals that can withstand dif temps.

I'll take this as I am the resident Plumber! PVC is only rated to precisely 180* What did I win???
