Thunder Road Raceway 20 miles north of Shreveport has closed, again, before it even opened it doors under the new sponsorshop of AHRA.

First day of racing was going to be this Saturday. Don't know what's going down but it was ballyhoo'd that this year was going to be the big one with new sponsorship and track management. Now at the very last minute, an e-mail to racers, WERE CLOSED.

Phooy, :shake:

Bummer. Bad economy for trying to get the new series off the ground, maybe it'll come around later. Suppose they could get some stimulus money from the gov't?

Well, this evening while talking to one the regular racers I found a little something about why the strip closed just days before the inaugural 2010 race season.

Apparently the AHRA and the track ownership did not see eye to eye.

So, the ownership is searching for another management team.

That's what I'm hearing.

Since when is the improper disposal of oil, fuel, and other chemicals on the grounds a problem anywhere near Shreveport???

Just kidding!! Come on over to Ennis, we'll treat you right here in Texas!

Adam;

Ennis is just too far, so is Lufkin and Monroe and southern Arkansas, 100 miles or more.

Reading through the torturous posts on the drag site about the closing it's an uncertain future for the track.

I feel for you Pat.
Residents were trying to get our local strip closed due to a noise ordinance.
Lucky for us they(activists) were stopped cold. :banana2:
