what do you think about this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCURY-MARAUDER-4-6L-4-6-V8-AIR-INDUCTION-2003-2004_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZit em563a445a99QQitemZ37034474562 5QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fP artsQ5fAccessories

I think, it is very cheap and the K&N intake so expensive. Do you have any experience with the cheap intake?

There's cheap then there's CHEAP! This is the latter of the two.... If you want to save some cash get a JLT and be done with it.... Besides that metal is gonna get hotter than either the K&N and the JTL. The whole point of a cold air intake is to make the air colder!

There is very little, if any, performance gain from changing the air intake. The primary gain is in appearance and possibly sound. The one pictured looks really ghetto, so the appearance improvements aren't there. It might even reduce performance because of the abrupt size transition at the adapter sleeve connected to the throttle body. So I'd say NO.

Check out the rubber boot! Looks like something out of the plumbing isle at home depot! Pass.

Usually the first thing you do when showing off a new automotive product is CLEAN THE ENGINE!!! :shake:

There is very little, if any, performance gain from changing the air intake. I picked up a couple tenths at the strip with mine, but as far as seat of the pants, I don't notice much. The benefit is in the sound :burnout:

As stated here already, spend the extra money and get a JLT. I'd have bought one myself, but I got a deal on a used K&N which I am happy with.

Dude do yourself a favor and go with JLT $159 bucks or so or keep it the OEM air box.

JLT is lees expensive than the K&N but I think the K&N is more refined looking. Both post similar gains.

What did it for me was the jlt's looks and the fact that it was th larger system of the two!
