Does anyone have suggestions on aftermarket tq converters? What brand and stall rpm's for street/strip duty?

I used to have a PI Stallion 2800 single plate, I was happy with it. When I got big power I went with a 2200 triple plate.

Where do you get a stallion tq converter? What stall rpm would you say would still be streetable but good for the track? Thanks.

I have a BC Automtive level 2 3500 rpm stalll I bought off another member it's installed but have yet to run the car. What are your plans? some of the Eaton crowd say 3000 rpm stall is good but for the N/A and centrifugal 3500 rpm stall seems to be more desirable.

Right now I am N/A but I dream of s/c, will probably run No2 for now. How much do think mpg will go down with a 3000 or 2800 stall? I am about to install 4.10 gears.

2800 is more street friendly than a 3500, but the 3500 will get you better drag strip times. Precision Industries.

If you going to run NOS I would think you would need less stall as the immediate torque of the nitrous would overpower the tires. I'm not sure how much of a MPG hit you would take. I have yet to test mine but you may want to contact Darrin or PI and ask there opinions

Triple disc is more noisy, not needed unless you're running over 500 rwhp.

It's also $1000. I can't swing that right now.

I think that $1000 would be better for an exhaust system instead of a tq converter, considering that I have a stock exhaust system. An engine that breathes good is better than a tq converter I think.

472 at the wheels,

I remember those days.... That was on engine #1

I'm tryin to get to your level car. That is a long, long way away. Better start playing the lottery.

500 rwhp was really more fun.

Already have exhaust work done, the engine breathes good too. I had my trans. re-built, wanted a new converter, since I only want to change this once, I opted for a triple disc.

Honestly, some of us have these cars as toys, if I couldn't afford the price to play, I would just have a cheaper hobby.

If I were racing, I would want more, on the street, with something that I want to be dependable, where I am at is suffucient.

I went from a 14.5 with 3.73's to 14.0 flat with the addition of a PI 9.5 2800 stall Torque converter. It definitely has teeth as an upgrade, and still has great streetability. You should also add a deep trans pan with fins and an extra transmission cooler so that's another $250 + right there. I think the PI's stall higher that what they are rated for. (a 2800 is closer to 3000 on a Marauder)

Also for about $1600 you can get nice Stainless works headers and high flow cats kit that bolt right up to factory exhaust.

Good luck. There will always be mods -- not to worry :D

If you are NA 3000 stall - 3.55/3.73 gears, 3500 stall - 4.10 gears.

I've had a PI 3500 stall with 3.55 gears for over two years, have not had one problem besides the initial retuning since 3500 stall doesn't like 3.55 gears but have 4.10 gears waiting to be installed.

Unless you do the install yourself you are looking at $700-800 for the converter shipped and $400-600 in labor and fluid for the install if you have a shop do it.

Has anyone tried a B&M converter? They are cheaper but are not billet. I talked to a converter shop and they said they could change the stall speed on my stock converter too. I like the idea of the 9inch converter better but I have an extra stock one sitting my garage.
