Im blacking out my tail lights, and im leaving those slots open, I've covered them with 3M painters masking tape and I think I covered it fairly well however my other family memebers dont have much confidence in my ability to do this simple task and have offered to pay a paintshop to do it , if i can find one. I think its easy and see no problems , who thinks I should just do it?

LVMarauder,
I always look at it from the "What's the worst that can happen" perspective.
In your case, answer might be, buy 2 new rear lenses. Don't know how much they are.
If this was a mod I wanted to do, I'd be willing to try it.

Check with Fat Bastid first. I think he was actually doing some at Ennis.

That was Cruztaker in Ennis, and I watched him work a while. Working with the Nightshade stuff can be tricky, it's thin, runs easy and the job requires several coats for the right look. Practice first?
If your family loves you enough to want you to be happy with the job, let them help out. Sounds like they want a piece of the fun too...IMHO

Petrograde did his with Nightshades and the results were very cool. He's no rocket surgeon or brain scientist (sorry, Tom- couldn't resist )- I bet you'll be fine.

 Hey Dan! I resemble that remark!
LV- what are you planning on using? Nite Shades or Gloss Black paint? Let me know which,.. so I can give a more detailed tutorial.
which ever you use do yourself a favor and remove the lights from the car! It's pretty easy. One more thing: the more time you spend masking and prepping, the better it'll look.
let me know if you have any more questions,.. I'm glad to help!
Tom
PS- hey Dan,.. technically I am a rocket scientist! If you count Blackhawk engines! lol

Sargent- You hit the nail on the head, they love the car just as much as i do.
Petro- I'll be using nite shades. I've everything this site has on this procedure and my only doubt is my job masking. and removing the taillights is extremely easy, takes 30 seconds using one wrench. Thanks.
