Aftermarket Headunit?

Has anyone heard of or have done a headunit or sub/amp upgrade while maintaining the use of the steering wheel mounted controls? i would like to have the best possible sound while still having the steering wheel controls.

Alpine also carries aftermarket wiring guides to help get the steering wheel controls back if you use one of their units.
