So, I've had the car for almost 2 months now, and I've been getting a feel for what needs servicing, what's good, etc.
Today I went over the tires, brakes, and suspension. I noticed that one of the front tires was mounted inside out, so I went to have it switched around, but the guy told me that my tires are going to need replacing soon, so I should just save the money and get it fixed when I get new tires. So, pretty soon I'll be in the market for a new set of tires.
I also found out that the tires on the car right now are not the sizes listed in the door panel, both are taller. I read around in the tires forum a bit, but I'm still not sure on what would be a good set of tires to get. I don't race or anything, so I just need a decent set that is good for cruising. I'm not a cheap skate though, so I'm not looking to throw the cheapest set on there that is only going to last a year. Any help in that respect would be appreciated!
Next item. Some jack off decided to put spacers in the front springs, which would explain why the front of my car looks like a 4x4. How do I get those out of there? Do I have to actually take the control arm off, or is there some way to just pop them out? I have access to a lift, so I can take load off the spring. If I could do it without ripping everything apart, that'd be great. Advice?
Last item. The rear driver's side brake rotor is shot. There are grooves in it, so it's going to need replacing. Is it cheapest just to get a replacement, or would it be not much different to upgrade to larger brakes while I'm taking it apart? I'm somewhat of a cartard, so forgive me if I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm smart, but I just lack the experience.
I suppose that depends on how the other rotors are, since I'm sure replacing one OEM rotor is a lot cheaper than a full set of upgrades. I'll take a closer look when I get the chance.
I think that's all for now, any insight would be great. Thanks in advance! :)
