How many watts is our factory amp putting out and at how many Ohms? i have a sub in mind that i want to throw in the stock enclosure but it might require more power than the amp can throw at it without distorting. depth might also be an issue. here is the link to the sub http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=29

You will be way under powered. Plus what is the depth of the JL Sub. Most guys are putting a 10 next to the spare tire where it is out of the way.

35 if I remember right. Plus how deep is that sub? If to deep it will not fit the sub box!

like i said all the dimensions are listed on the link if you scroll down, but anyways ive found a less powerful 6 incher on ebay, it looks like it would be more of a match for the oem amp, its a jl W0 series rated at 75watts RMS for $100 brand new, do u think its worth it for the improvment i will hear?? it also has a shorter mouting depth of 3.5"

It looks like the depth is ok. I have a Marauder sub enclosure here and just looked. It would come down to the ohm load the factory amp can handle. The guys that have done this have used a 4 ohm sub if I remember right.

The OEM amp with a JL sub is like matching a Marauder chassis with a Geo Metro 1000 cc three cylinder engine. Don't waste your time or money trying to use the OEM amp.

If you go with the shallow mount 8" Pioneer sub it. will. work. and its 4ohm impedance

Yeah the bassline is much richer. You will have to modify the opening for the sub.

Buy the sub, remove the OEM unit, cut a new hole, install the sub, enjoy the Bass!
