View Full Version : Getting really pissed with DDMTUNING

My HID light kit from DDMTUNING.com failed after 2 months of use. Not only was I pulled over for having no headlights, but I had to buy a temporary set just to get home because johnny law wouldn't let me leave without headlights.

I am PISSED, I opened a ticket with them 9 days ago. They say "allow up to 1 buisness day for a response". No response, and when you try to contact them by phone, the second they hear you say "warranty" they put you on hold. I've been on hold for 56 minutes and counting.

I liked the light kit but this is really frustrating. I have to say that in the future I probably will not buy from them solely because of this. :mad2:

Sorry to hear that man, the kit on my Marauder has been working flawless since first installed.

I know this sounds dumb but did you check the fuse on the power wire to see if it had been blown or not?

I currently have 3 ddmtuning kits and they're all working just fine. Hell the kit I paid $430 for only lasted 1 yr and 1 month, I was 1 month outside the warranty, that really pissed me off. I don't agree on that their service to a customer should be slow or no response at all.

Black Out what email service do you use? When I ordered my last kit I know their email program was messed up and wasn't sending emails out to certain mail suites.

I just use Yahoo, I finally got a hold of someone and he walked me through it. Two wires on the kit come pre-pinned in the wrong locations and I needed to switch them around. Unfortunately my ballasts are fried though lol

Are they going to warranty it?

I didn't get to finish on the phone with the guy, he told me what to do to fix it and let me go. I fixed the wiring, but I'm still having a problem where one light will fire on for like 2 seconds, and the fuse will blow.

I went through everything and completely reinstalled it, I can't see to find any problems. I'm going to try and call again tomorrow :( So much BS....

Did you get the single beam or hi/low beam kit?

Bump the fuse up by 5 amps and try that.

I had some problems with the bulb unit on the hi/lo headlight, which I installed right after I received it. I filed a support tech ticket and never heard anything for a week or so (no major inconvenience - because of snopocalypse in Washington DC the car was put away for the winter). I finally called the service line, but they never answered.

Finally, and using the theory that most companies are interested in new sales over support issues, I called the sales line and got right through. They said send both bulbs back, and they replaced them as a set.

As I was looking at the bulbs, I wondered whether I should buy an extra set, since they also incorporate actuators (the "hi" and "lo"). I'm not sure how easy it would be to find these if DDM goes the way of many small businesses these days.

Also, when I got the replacement set, I noticed that one of the wires to the actuator was cut. Rather than go through all the rigamarole again, I got out the soldering iron and the heat shrink and put it back together. I did let them know, via voice mail, that this had happened, but never got a reply.

WAISAD*, it's still a great kit at a great price point, if I can overcome my angst about "where to get bulbs" in the future. The light is a little odd, since there are facets in the MM reflectors that play with the pattern that aren't in my VW GTI with the same lights. No big deal - just odd.

I couldn't find a 35 amp fuse at the store either  (autozone)

But I will go to maybe Farm & Fleet or something and try the 35 amp fuse.

Too bad everyone isn't local, I would just install all of the kits for everyone. lol

I bought the cheapest kit I could find on eBay (hi & lo bulbs). Have driven about 15k trouble free miles.
