Check this out - I just stumbled upon these guys through a listing in Amazon.com. I ordered a mirror mount frm 'em and will report after the installation. But this is a pretty cool way to put the radar detector in a good place.

(I hope this qualifies as 'general interest' and not a commercial plug - I have no interest in the company.)

Now days you're better going with a Blinder Laser Jammer system. Just got saved again last week = blew by a LEO listening too intently to some olde R&R with the SC whinning in my ears going way too fast. Jammer did its job - you can't beat it.:)

We were just discussing this company on the scanguage2 thread. Fordnut mentioned the company and I was just looking at this link last night http://store.nexternal.com/mgt/scangauge-ii-c103.aspx

Actually the V1 and the Blinder have been FAR surpassed by other products.
Don't take my word for it, read for yourself.

I used to love to see the little tell-tale lights while pacing from behind. Instant on = nailed good.
Get the remote mount kit. If you get pulled over, expect no "warning" with a detector in plain sight. That's the only warning I'll give you, sir.;)

Maybe since he's driving a MM you can cut him a brake Officer! :D

I mounted my V1 high, to the left of the rear view mirror. The remote is mounted on the top of the steering column.
Radar detectors are illegal in Va, DC and most of Canada. The police find one in your car and they confiscate it.

Checkout www.radarbusters.com
No it doesn't apply to Florida.
Radar detector laws by state:
The use of a radar detector in a passenger vehicle is legal in all states with the exception of Virginia, Washington DC. and while on military bases.
In Canada, the only three provinces that allow their use are Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
Many overseas countries also ban their use, such as Portugal, Finland and Spain.
In areas that radar detectors are illegal, law enforcement use a device called the Spectre that is able to detect the use of radar detector in your car or truck.
Laser Jammers and Radar Jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.

I wonder if you can mount the scan gauge under the mirror instead of above it?

I tried it there, really cut down on what you can see thru the windshield.

Most officers I know are very competitive types, so if you're trying to beat them at the game by using a radar detector, they enjoy pouncing on you even more...no matter what you drive.
BTW, I'm not active anymore, but many days I still wish I was.
Be safe and keep your MM shiney-side up. Save the racing for the track!:)

That's my impression too, with both the scangauge and the V1. I put my V1 just to the right of the rearview mirror.
