The girl drives a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, with a little over 60k miles on it. I replaced her pads and severely warped rotors for her today, zipped it up, and took it for a drive....
After maybe 5 minutes of driving the brakes got so hot they started smoking! LOL!
Tore it apart again and discovered the calipers are stuck rubbing constantly on the rotors... So now I get to spend a 2nd day replacing her calipers and bleeding the system. Nothing can ever be easy :mad2:

You might want to spec the rotors out for run-out again to check for hot spotting, in case the rotors warped again...
Just in case...spin the tires before you drop the car to make sure the pads are not rubbing too much...
Good luck...

Fun Fun! I had to do F-150 calipers today after doing a brake service yesterday, lucky for me the customer admits he's really hard on his truck.

check the sliders for the caliper brackets. grease them up good that might help.

New calipers are 20$ each for her car... lol!
We decided to just replace them and be done with it

$20? That's really cheap, i'm sure that might just be the caliper itself. I would pick up a new slide kit too and make sure it has the pin boots in it.

Yea, clean up the areas that the caliper slides on, probably kinda crusty out where the caliper wasnt sliding before.

Her calipers are weird, they are single piston and basically just a shell for the brake pads.
The inner pad clips into the piston, the outer pad clips over the caliper. And theres nothing else

Replaced the calipers and bled the system, seems to be doing alot better, but there is still a black line going around the rotor along the outer edge... it's on both sides, and they seem kind of hot still.
Maybe the pad just doesn't cover the full surface of the rotor and this line is just showing where the pad contacts and doesn't?
Or did I screw something up...

My two cent on this issue. I always replace brake hoses when I replace calipers. If you try to compress the caliper piston and it does not compress easy most likely the brake hose is bad. I check them this way. If you break the brake bleeder loose and the piston compresses easy. The brake hose is bad. I always replace them in sets. Brake hose failure can happen two ways leaking and also inside the hose which will not allow the fluid to return.
