Well...
"handlon" emailed me and said he was not very happy with his new MM.....engine ticking!! :mad2:
Has anyone found out what it is?? Maybe loose valve train.....noisey injectors??
I hope they have it solved on the '04 I'm getting!!!;)

Well TAF.....
That's really heart warming!!!:mad2:
I order a new car that possibly has the same old noisey driver's side head??!!
I hope Ford has had enough time to get them out of the assembly system!! I sincerely DON"T TRUST any of the techs at local dealerships to do this type of work!!!:flamer: Changing oil is a real challenge for some of them!!
Also....I don't have the time or patience to deal with sloppy work like you guys have outlined in 6 pages of posts!!!:mad2:
Crossed fingers......Do y'all suppose this problem has been resolved in the 04's??

Cobrajack,
I don't think the ticking head problem is widespread. Mine's an '03 with a little less than 10,000 miles on it. No ticks. In those 6 pages of posts you mention, I think you'll see it's mostly a lot of posting by a few people. Something like a thousand members here and a handful of ticking heads.
My advice: don't sweat it. Enjoy the car! (when you get it)

I've got an 03 with a July 22, 2002 build date. It has almost 12,000 miles on it. No problems, no ticking, no nothing, no worries.
We have a very capable tech here in our area who takes care of us so I am covered that way.
I did buy the Premium Extended Warranty so if something happens, I'll get it covered.
In the meantime, the car is one of the best I have ever owned. Keep your perspective and realize that as a group we are pusists and can be really picky SOBs.
And wear the big MM s**t eatin' grin!

Thanks Macon Marauder!!!
How are things in central Georgia?? I had the distinct pleasure of driving around Macon and up to Atlanta only to arrive just in time to participate in the "I-285" 100 MPH road race!!!!:mad2:
What a bunch of speed freaks!! I like fast up to about 75-80 but 100+ and 6 lanes is a little nutso!!!:(
I hope you are right and Ford has these problem heads out of the system....??

Cobrajack: Things are pretty quiet in these parts. I know what you mean about that "100 MPH road race, though." I love to drive fast, but Atlanta traffic can be "white knuckles" all the way!
No worries mate!

I've come across many 2003 Marauders and most do not tick. I don't think it's something to lose sleep over... If it happens, follow the proper procedures outlined in the other thread, and get a good shop to do the work.

Key words around here are "GOOD SHOP"!!!:mad2:
The local Ford dealers just cannot keep good qualified techs!!:alone:
Maybe I'll be lucky??

Where do the qualified techs go? Seek them out... ;)
(I honestly have no problem requesting they put their best guy on the job whenever it's somethng touchy... I clearly state that the outcome of this job will determine whether I continue to do business with them and/or refer others... it's always worked out for me, both at my GM and my Ford dealership).
Statistically speaking, you will probably be fine... just enjoy the car.

My ticking turned to not be the dreaded ticking so you can take me off the 'tickers' list.

^^^One of the redeeming qualities about Atlanta traffic...it MOVES!!!

It's either moving at 80-90 or not moving at all. Sometimes both at the same time...why do you think I went with the Baer Brakes!!!!

CobraJack, don't get excited over this. Things like this "ticking" tend to get magnified in discussions, and you'd get the impression there is a major problem, when in fact not many have experienced it (or other problems)
When people are discussing a "tick" in the engine there is no way of knowing what it is unless you can hear it yourself. It may be a real "tick" or it may be a normal running engine sound that someone is sensitive to.
Without being there, there is no way of knowing what the problem is or where it is coming from

Agent M79, i'm glad your engine isn't the dreaded tick as my dealer keeps telling me that my Marauder should be here any day now. They've been telling me that since last Saturday, so i'm hoping it might be here in time for me to enjoy it for the weekend. I see Cobrajack is still waiting for his!
