One of my neighbors was pounding on the door to wake us up.
Someone during the night hit my Marauder. From what the neighbor said accross the street it must have happend around 3 a.m. or so.
We had just had the trash pic up so they thought it was the covers slamming on the containers.
Anyways this is what I Saw. they hit the car so hard they almost pushed the rear passenger wheel into the curb.

The entire street of neighbors was standing around me and could not believe it.
Some of them went around the neighborhood to look @ every white car we know of in the area but no one had any damage.
Everyone knows my car around here and are always complimenting me on the way I take care of her and even hel sometimes when I am trying to make a cruise night in time.
Funny it's just next month I get the use of the garage in the back of the house and just las month I paid her off. I only have a $250.00 deductable but it is not the damm point.
The poilce said it looked like a back into hit @ an angle but obviously hard enough to push her and loud enough to be heard @ 3 a.m. while others were sleeping.

You talk about putting it in the garage next month -- why are you parking it on the street - no driveway?
Sorry about that - geesh. I hope the other car is fubared!
that sucks. By the height of the damage i'd say it was a van, or suv.

I am genuinely sorry for your loss, I to have had to park on the street, and hate to see this happen.

Tears over that? Come on, it's just a door. This is no where near totalled. You could probably fix that for almost the cost of the deductable with good parts. You weren't hurt and it's a real easy fix.
I have had my car hit with me in it and had it damaged real bad twice. One cool thing about driving around with a beat up car is not as many people will give you a hard time while driving anymore and it's great!
The only time I think any car owner should cry is when a car is totalled for good, stolen, have a life changing injury or loss of life. those are reasons to cry. I didn't cry when my truck was stolen, but I didn't think I could ever get so angry. Been there done that.
I know you'll get it back together in no time. Looks like it can be done in about two business weeks if you're first in line!
Good luck and keep us updated.
BTW looked like it was a white truck or SUV to leave paint at the door handle. Probably some drunk person hit it. Any plastic left behind? Taillights or turning siginals? Glass?

That's the way the driveways are arranged on my street. A bunch of people with a bunch of cars just moved into the house which driveway would line up right across from the front of my house. They are constantly coming and going. Plus a bunch of younguns play in the street. Already got a few ooops on it from careless doors. Car only goes on the street to be washed then, back in the driveway it goes.

Dom, some of us care about our cars a wee bit more than you do. Especially if time and effort is put into making it look and perform better, as Leo clearly has. Even if it can be fixed, it is still an inconvience to have to fix damage some other idiot caused. And run the risk of your insurance going up or unneccesary money's coming out of your pocket.

I live in a 3 story house on the first floor. The family on the second floor has been here the longest and always park in the back since we moved in and claim it for themselves and because they have 3 preteen children that play in the back I did not want the Marauder there around them as they have damged their own parents Lincoln Aviator before.
So it was park in the street and take my chances or park in the back and take my chances.
In the winter time my next door neighbor allows me to park her on his side lawn so she is no where near the plows but he is a landscaper and will not allow it on hislawn come Spring time he like's his house to look good to promote his buisness.
The new owner of the house had rented out the garage before I got to talk to him about it and the past owner would never even consider it so for 6 years she has always been in the street during the non winter months.
Anyways the new 3rd floor couple had heard the accident and thought someone was breaking into his SUV for the snow boards so looked outside his window and saw a late model white F series pickup with a crew cab leaving the scean but did not catch the license plate number.
But at least it was a bit more info for the police to go on and several of my neighbors went for a drive around to see if anyone had a white pick up and damage but nothing localy was found.
But I have no idea what they do about the door vin sticker and so forth when it comes to something like this. I haven't had a car in an accident in about 15 years @ least.
I have to wait till the end of the month when my next disability check comes in to have her repaired and Progressive is sending out an adjuster on Monday.
This all comes at a bad time because I have a mandatory Federal court Jurror duty April 7th and was trying to get what I needed to repair the rear end leak before it so I would feel cool about using her for the trip's back and forth and now the money has to be used for the door repair.
I know it is repairable but it is like having a house broken into it is a violation and it's hard to feel right about it all even after the repair work is done.
I honestly thought she would be my last car and never live long enough to be able to think about another car or pay her off after all the health problems I have had. So she has special meaning to me in many ways and has given me a will to live and a purpose in life again going to shows and cruise nights with her and showing the work I have done on her.
So yes it hurts!
This is why I have always chimed in when guys mention the accidents with thier Marauders and the losses because I knew how much it would effect me if it was mine and empathise with them.
Now I know first hand what all you guys felt!
Upset enough to be using my Nitro's today for angina so needless to say the other half is more worried about me than the Marauder.

Hey Leo, If it were me, i'd look into replacing the door myself, and having it painted. The deductable would cover a good percent of that. I would only feel guilty about it if there was body work done, but this (appears) to be only the door. I highly doubt your insurance would go up on a comp claim, but just incase it did well... Also, the cars value would not be affected and you could do this in no time flat.
I bought my car when it was only a year old from Carmax, just to recently notice (i don't know how I didn't see all the clues) that about 60% of my car was infact a repaint with no record. I will never get to know the real history. I hope the paint match is spot on for you, In very bright sunlight at the perfect angle, the newly painted parts on mine are brown...But perfect match in any other light

I am a damm good Auto Tech but body work has always eluded me ability wise. Ya I can install a spoiler but I take @ least 5 times longer than book time being nervous about screwing it up.
Maybe Progressive will also repair the FU that was carved in the trunk lid for me at the same time so it might just be worth it to let a body shop do it. This happend a couple of years ago when my other half took her to Philly to visit the parents.

Man that really sucks. :( Sorry to hear about the damage to your MM. Even worse to see it. Most of us here on the site really try to keep our Marauders blemish free and are paranoid about door dings. That's certainly repairable; but I completely understand how you feel violated.
3:00 AM hit & run ??? I would suspect that drugs or alcohol were involved and that's why the dirtbag left the scene without a note or anything.
Another possibility .... How early do they deliver your newspaper? I have seen our local paper delivery guy do U-turns in the middle of the block before. They are usually in vans or larger SUVs.

All of these ideas are great ones and are correct---there is no damage leading to or pass the dent-main hit area that supports this ..
Also evidence left would help--if none--it then tends to be a solid truck bumber sitution
saw a late model white F series pickup with a crew cab leaving the scean but did not catch the license plate number.
But at least it was a bit more info for the police to go on and several of my neighbors went for a drive around to see if anyone had a white pick up and damage but nothing localy was found.
Exactly--take the evidence --it makes sense--keep this info in mind

Charlie has another good thought^^^^ here--which may explain why the neighbors and others have not found a truck around the neighborhood--its stored out of the area--even if it was a drugs or alcohol
Good luck --take another look around --and keep and eye out---as I'm sure your are--maybe a repairs shops have gotten inquiries for repairing a truck hit in the rear--check some out...

That truly sucks. I hope you get everthing sorted out soon.
Back when I was in college, I parked my car on the street as well. One night I was up late and heard someone drive up the street, heard a crash, then heard the car drive away. I remember thinking, "ooh, somebody's car got hit, somebody's gonna be pissed in the morning." That somebody turned out to be >me<. It never occurred to me it was my car, somehow I thought it was further down the street, but some jackass had sideswiped the left side of my ride. Insurance paid for it, but it was only a pos Pinto to begin with, so meh.

Progressive is sending out someone Monday to come see the car and then I can ask questions and go from there.
I live in a good neighborhood no drugs or anything like that going on here. A female police officer a couple of houses down on the other side of the street. Next door to my left a court officer and a district atterney, 2 houses up a Fire Marshal.
Everyone knows each other and we even have a couple of block parties during the summer time. Most of us have dog's and walk them around the neighborhood and get to talk and what not as well.
One of my neighbors went to the local body shops near us and asked them to report any truck like the one seen leaving that night.
Not much else can be done and I have to be greatfull for my neighbors help and concern.
It's like the people on here everyone helps and feels for the others when they can!

you can order the vin sticker from any FORD parts dept. they will make you bring in the registration and title to prove the car is yours and that is it. IIt is about $20.00
Just find a door of another MM or CV and have it painted and swap the interior trim, pretty easy job.

Since the accident most of the lights no longer work on the door switches I noticed so they will have to replace them as well.
I took pics of the door stickers to include the Marauder specific one and I am telling them to repalce them too @ the same time.
The normal infor one for tires and what not is crumpled in half from the door buckling.
I have been steaking out the local bars only a few streets away to see if I could find the truck.
I took measurements from the ground up to the point of impact so I could confirm damge to a specific vehicle.
Went to a couple of local autobody shops and told them about it as well to see if anyone shows up with a truck like that.
I want the PR*ICK busted one way or the other.
Today @ 1 pm I have to be @ the Progressive center for the evaluation.

$2,869.44 after my $250.00 deductable.
This is an estimate total cost my be more.
Remove and install: front Left quarter, bumper, Park/lights signal lamps assembly, mirror assembly, rear tail light assembly, transfer window to new door unless damaged then new vin eteched window order.
replace: Door assembly, Door Moldings, Belt molding, Handle, remote entry assembly, Weather stripping, inner door switch assembly, all factory car identifications.
Entire left side striped repainted and reclearcoated for full color match.
Strip and repaint trunk lid and clearcoat.
The list goes on but just the main highlights. Life time guarentee on all paint and parts as well as labor.

$100.00 a month for the full 3 bay garage is all he is going to charge me.

Never needed anything except a new windshield from them so lord knows they have gotten the money out of me already for the repairs.
$300.00 a month on 2 cars for 5 years and 1 windshield replaced I would say they are coverd as far as the repairs go.
Add's up to about $18,000.00 given to them minus the Windshield.

That included the shipping charges as well for both pieces.
They are embroiderd into the material and much heavier than what is on the car.
Because our car's do not have the holes for mounting the trunk one it comes with velcro mounting strips and is much heavier constrction.

Although I can tell they are at least working on her. They needed the key fob to get into the trunk. The valey Key will not open or work anything but the door lock and ignition switch so had to get that to them.
They asked for the normal key but I said no just the key fob. :argue:
Even the dealership never had her over night once I would sit and wait there for her return.

But drive's up and down the area roads and going down the the bar's parking lot's every night has turned up nothing so far.
Progressive called and said she won't be ready till sometime after the first of the month that they were having problems with the FU trunk repair.
I think they ****ed up and took off the spoiler & God's head emblem and then ran into a problem with one of them.

I feel your pain for not being able to babysit them. I get VERY nervous when it is out of my sight. If it helps any at all, no matter valet, mechanic, or friend, mine has always came back to me like nothing happened. I hope the same for you.

Let me add my condolences to the pile. The driver was probably blinded by his own headlights and just lost control. That thing is so clean he just couldn't see! Hopefully you will get her back soon...

Ya the Mothers 3 step clean and polish works great.
Never would have happend if I could trust the second floor neighbors kid's around her so I could park it in back.
@ least the Landlord is making sure she get's to stay in the garage for now on and he lowerd the amount of money he was going to charge me for it's use monthly by $50.00.

She is going back to Progressive tomarrow they got in a new switch panel for the door instead of trying to get the lights working on them.
Right after the accident half of the switches stoped lighting up so they just orderd a new one to replace it and called yesterday to say it came in finaly from Ford.
Still waiting on the Marauder specific door part sticker to come in as well.
At least they are taking the time to do every thing right so I can not complain there.

I just found this thread - holy coincidence, Vampire! I just experienced the same thing as you, only 10 days later. Same door, too, though yours was hit far worse than mine.
I know exactly how you feel. I takes a fair amount of effort and a lot of care behind the wheel to keep a vehicle in good, dent-free condition. To come out one morning to find that some a-hole backed into your car, leaving nothing to identify them but a few flecks of paint (beige or tan, in my case) is very disheartening. Then you have to think about getting it fixed - insurance will cover it, but with a deductible, it's $$ out of your pocket for something you had no part in! Money that could have been spent on other things! Then you have to wonder if your rates will rise, and will it be fixed to your satisfaction, and should you have done it without filing a claim, and on and on.
Are you having the whole car refinished? I'm only having the door done, which is going to look bad I think - one door all shiny and new looking, the rest of the vehicle covered in swirl marks.
I believe in karma - what goes around, comes around. To the jag-offs who back into cars in the middle of the night, and flee the scene without leaving a note, you will get yours sooner or later.

But she is already repaired and all taken care of except for a few back orderd Items and one is going on next week that came in.
I posted pics and info about what they did. The door was replaced and they striped and painted the entire side of the car and color patched it to the upper half.
What gets me most is the loss of value and the permenant blemish on her VIN record which can never be straightend out.
Anyways make sure you Marauder is well taken care of when you have her repaired and make them think and or realize just how important it is to you so they do it all right! And get a guarantee as well!

I just now saw this thread and I am sickened, especially because I know of how much work and pride you've put into your Marauder.
However, I am glad to see she's almost been fully repaired.
