I just purchased stock MM front and rear sway bars from beantownmm, just wondering exactly what makes them better than the CVPI crown vic bars?
I'm guessing they're just thicker?
A few guys over at MCM say there's no difference. I can't find a part number for the OEM sway bars and its sunday so the dealership is closed.

I have looked at them side by side, the MM one is a thicker diameter. The Addco aftermarket if about twice as thick as the oem MM one.

You got that question answered soooo many times this weekend! You should'nt make a decision if your unsure about it. No pun, I'm just saying

I know, sorry for asking again I know you already answered, but I just wanted to know what actually made them better.
The MCM guys kind of made me think I wasted money on them so I just wanted to confirm.
THANKS!

I just measured the bars to compare
MM bars
Front - 3 1/2 inch diameter
Rear - 2 3/4 inch diameter
Both are tubular (hollow) design
04 cvpi sway bars
front - 3 3/4 diameter
rear - 2 1/4 diameter
Both are solid design
So bigger is obviously better, but why does the cvpi have a bigger front bar then? And what is better, tubular or solid design?

CVPIs are built to handle high-speed chases and are generally subjected to harder use than a Marauder...
Tubular is lighter...solid is "better" for the same diameter.

I'll post up some pics. I meant circumference

You obviously can't see my sarcasm here so let me put it bluntly... There is no way in hell any car would have a 3 3/4" diameter sway bar... PERIOD! I would think even a bus would have a sway bar that big. Go ge a tape measure and look at what you are saying.

Sorry I meant circumference. I'm wrapping the tape around the bar.

Can someone measure their damn front swaybar and pm me? I'm having a hell of a time finding out how big it is supposed to be. Even the dealership doesn't know.
The bar I got may not have been from a marauder, and I just need to be sure.

Hey all, this could be my bad, I called Blackout to let him know, gotta take responsibility if it ain't an MM bar, the bar came from my used '04 that was in a front end accident before I bought it..... I was assured by dealers who checked it out that it was an MM bar,, should have told Blackout before...., wasn't tryin to scam anyone, just wanted someone to use it instead of trashing it..
if it is found not to be an MM bar, I will refund you for the trouble Blackout,, sorry bout that man......
mercy on the court...

Start by getting a cheap micrometer so the measurement you get is correct. :shake:

The measurements I'm taking are within 1-2 16ths of an inch. If theres a difference between the bars, it's going to be bigger than that.

but why does the cvpi have a bigger front bar then? Here's a better answer than the one I gave you:
"An HPP panther will outhandle a CVPI. The HPP is designed for good handling whillst keeping a smooth ride.
The CVPI suspension is 'heavy-duty' - it's designed to handle more weight and be as reliable as possible. Heavy duty doesn't necessarily mean it will handle the best, of the few CVPIs I've driven, they had a lot of under steer from the big front bar and super stiff front springs.
With the stiff rear springs, Ford used a smaller bar which means little to nor oversteer, and mostly understeer.
Having a cruiser oversteer while powering through a turn could cause a driver to over-compensate and wreck the car. Understeer is more fool-proof, and many cops aren't the best of drivers out there (lets not get into that lol)"
