There are current production problems effecting the 2003 Aviator and Cobra. Marauder was not mentioned, thought I'd share anyway.

As far as I know, that was due to the manafold in the case of the Avaitor. Supposively it was fixed with a varriable runner manafold and is doing fine now. As for the Cobra, one it has this older version 4.6L that the Aviator/Marauder had/have, and two it's blown, so that leaves for more problems. I don't think we'll be seeing this problem in our cars due to the fact our motor has the old cobra intake and is sitting in a car that allows for better air flow in the engine bay, at least I hope we won't...

I purchased one of the first '92 CV's in the area with the new (then) 4.6 V8 with the HPP package. I put over 130,000 miles on it before I traded it. The only problem with the engine was one plug cover cracked and shorted to the valve cover causing it to miss, and a bad starter. I have since had a '96 Cobra (70,000 miles), '99 Cobra (100,000 miles). Again, I never had any engine problems either Cobra. All lived on synthetic oil, changed every 5000 miles, as 85% of my mileage was all highway miles. The Marauder is approaching 1500 miles now, purchased 11/2, and will be getting the first oil change at that point. I'm partial to my favorite brand of oil, and that's what will go in then. Oil brand isn't important as everyone has their own opinion here. You trust what you've come to know best!

I'm not familiar with the HPP CV. Did they get DOHC 4.6L's?

No! It was the SOHC engine in the '92 HPP. At that time it was rated at 210HP with the package. Just think, after 10 years, the '02 CV Sport I traded had 235HP. Really jumped a lot in 10 years! NOT! Granted, it wasn't the DOHC, but the engine was still a reliable workhorse.
