I was driving by this road called Dead Man's Curve (believe it or not) and showed a friend of mine what the car could do from 20mph to WOT. He couldn't believe it. His dad has a 2009 Mustang GT and said I could woop on his dads car all day long. This was before the curve BTW and we didn't race all the way to Dead Man's Curve, I didn't have the nerve. So I pulled a U-turn and gave it WOT from 10mph or 5mph. As soon as the car gave the 1-2 shift it left smoke and tire marks, but just as the car was shifting a Police Tahoe was going the opposite way on the other side of the street and saw everything.

I slowed down quickly, but didn't slam on the brakes. My friend looked kinda worried since he had not been in the car in years... before it was blown. I looked in the mirror and I saw the truck made a U-turn after me, but didn't turn his lights on. I said "We're getting pulled over. Watch this, we'll be fine." My buddy was worried. I made a right hand turn onto the next street and as soon as I did so did the truck followed and those lights came right on.

At this point I was almost laughing. I knew what I had done and know it's not a great area and they weren't going to waste their time writing me a ticket when they could be going after robbers... I'm not kidding. The police officer said "You know you were going a little fast back there." "Ya I knooooow. Sorry about that. I was just showing my buddy what the car could do, that's all." I tried not to laugh and I said it with a smile. The officer actually looked relieved to my surprize when I mentioned I was just screwing around with the car. Like as soon as I said I was messing around his eyebrows went up, I guess he didn't think I was going to confess or admit to anything. Well he asked for my license and insurance card. I gave him my license, but couldn't find the card off hand. He didn't care and just wanted to run my license.

My buddy started to calm down and I was still clam as could be. I said to him "He'll let me go. He's just checking my license for warrants, making sure the car isn't stolen and making sure I'm not a pedophile. Just watch." Sure enough he was back in a minute and I gave him my registration instead of my insurance card to my mistake. He didn't care, but wanted to know what I was doing down this far south... 120th street is 20 miles from my home. Told him this is where my drummer lives and we were just taking a breather from recording and it was the truth too. He was like "Oh ok, just take it easy alright?" "Sure thing." "Have a good night." "You too."

Just then my phone rang and I answered it, but didn't drive the car. The truck was still behind me and it's illegal to talk and drive. I told my drummer I had to get off the phone, I can't break the law right after I was let off. Sure enough the truck waited until I was off the phone to make sure I didn't drive. Soon as I hung up he was off. I drove another block up and saw him turning around. I made my stop at the stop sign and actually waved good-bye to him. :D

Just play it cool and you'll be fine. Admit to your guilt and you are sorry. The biggest way to get off is to turn off your car as the officer is walking to you, midway between their car and yours. The officer will feel safer because he's in more fear than you believe it or not. He doesn't know if you were being stupid and speeding or if you just stole the car and had a gun in your hand. Just make them aware you are not a threat and you'll be fine.

My drummers girlfriend asked how I keep getting away and it's one word: Honesty. The guy riding in the car couldn't believe I had a blast, got caught and got off. Even before he was aware I was off the hook he said it was worth getting pulled over. :burnout:

The joy never ends.

A good friend of mine was killed racing at that spot. Playing chicken. First person to slam on the brakes lost. Well, he got his jacket sleeve caught on the door handle and couldn't stop or jump out in time. Went right off the cliff into the ocean.

Dale Doback (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000604/): I work at a college as a janitor even though I feel like I'm smarter than most of the people who go there. Sometimes I see an equation written on a blackboard like half an equation and... I just figure it out.

Dale Doback (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000604/): No.
Male Therapist (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0731168/): It sounds alot like the plot of good will hunting.
Dale Doback (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000604/): Yeah. Anyway. My best friend is Ben Affleck...

Yup, but they can make it disappear easier. Not nearly as easy as it was 30 years ago though. At least over here from what I have been told.

Its the law here, too, but it doesn't stop the cops from doing it. Of course, it doesn't stop them from speeding, making lane changes without shoulder check or signals, failing to yield.....
I really can't be surprised by the fact that they are incapable of doing anything but reading flashing numbers on a box (and half of them can't do that properly, either). They are undoubtedly some of the worst drivers in Canada, so how could they possibly be expected to recognize infractions committed by others?

Around Warner Robins and Cochran I believe it is still legal to have the phone on your ear. Not on the Air Force Base though, hands free only.

Honesty is the best policy with traffic stops. Cops have so many idiots lying to them every day they smile upon those that are honest. In the last several years we have been stopped for very minor infractions like license plate light burned out at night, supposedly license plate registered to a boat trailer (oh gosh, I transposed two of the letters....). I suspect we get stopped because we are driving a nice car and scrupulously adhering to the speed limit even when no other cars are present. It's actually comical now -- we are always expecting to get pulled over when there is a unit nearby.

Honesty and courtesy usually gets you catch/released or a drastically reduced ticket. At least that's been my experience in the central FL areas for the last 30 years or so.

there not all that forgive,n ,,you got a break that time..

Last time I mixed up my insurance cards and put the expired one back in the car, the bastard towed my car. Cost me $400 to get it back. I have never, ever, driven a single day without insurance. Meanwhile, I know of several instances of people that were stopped with NO LICENSE and NO PROOF of insurance and were just told to "take care of it". Still makes my blood boil even to think about it. Somedays you get a nice guy, sometimes you get a prick, just like when dealing with ANYBODY. You got the nice guy this time.
