I am intrested in knowing if anyone knows if Ford's new Coyote 5.0 engine is compatable with our cars or what is needed to make this happen since it will add around 400HP to a car that should have had it in the first place. I was just pondering and seeing if I could pick some of you alls brains. Thanks for any input.:banana2:

Lots of people are waiting for this motor.

Good question. There are a lot of people waiting to see what can swap over as for accessory brackets, bellhousing bolt pattern etc... I would assume Ford would be smart enough to make it a drop in swap.

I highly doubt it, as I have read the base design is radically different from the modulars, plus the fact that they built an all new 6sp manual and auto. Also, traditional headers will not work with this design. The custom ones they scratch built and pairs of cylinders work off each other. Old header 4 into 1 collector. New design 4 into 2 into 1 collector.

For me, that is a dream swap! The highlight in my book is more so the new 6-speed which would be amazing to drive around town and exotic enough when the pedal is to the medal.

I guess I'll just have to stick with my ol' TERMINATOR block. :D

There may be a a computer upgrade required for our cars also to take advantage of the variable valve timing. Not sure how our existing computers would handle it.

True it's a new engine family but thats no reason brackets and bellhousing wont match up. I'm hoping that it would be a drop in swap for anybody with a mod motor only thing we would need to get would be a PCM kit

Hmmm I havent heard a refrence to Tri-Y's since I was on the Chevy Forums... everyone and their brother runs that type header over there on their 96 SS's

For the computer upgrade would be next impossible as currently we are running EEC V and the newer electronics are block oak, totally different.

only way this would work is if you get the complete harness out of a 2011 and re wire it into your MM, Lots of work there,Not sayin it can't be done but it gonna cost ya.

I should've been more specific, I would be beyond happy to swap in that new 6-speed automatic

My 08 Taurus has 6-speed automatic in it. I would love to get a tune for it to firm up the shifts and correct some shift scheduling but it's really nice to have.

That's sweet! How much would you say it would cost to swap into a marauder?

I also read in Motor Trend that the heads are smaller in size. Sounds like a great engine for an older car swap. Our MM's would be well served with a terminator block and S/C. These can be upsized to a 5.0.

Well can't our engines be stroked to 5.0 aluminuim blocks?

I think there's even a 4.6 to 5.0 stroker kit that sells for $1500 that promises about 100 hp and ? Tq. I have to do my research on that one but i'm sure it's worth every penny :type:

holy moley, apparently a ton of places have this for sale too.

I'm more worried about other things than the power return (although I imagine it'd be pretty good), namely:
How adversely would the rev limit of the motor be affected?
Will I have to worry about pulling timing on ignition?

I'm afraid I'd do a mod like that then end up blowing it up cause I haven't made proper adjustments to the rest of the system.

Looks like I got me some learnin' to do on the subject. :)

If they are doing the new plasma process to the Cylenders then there will be no more bore changes on these engine's.

I think what they came up with is a great idea for the engine's and reducing wear and weight problems but mod's made will be a big issue internaly.

Not to mention, this has allready been gen6 Eaton supercharged. :)

I saw it on topgear the other night. This car is a straight up tire frier.

Not really next to impossible, All you would need from Ford Racing is something like the M-6017-463V (http://fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField= 10560) control pack for example. Perhaps part number M-6017-504V! :D

i read somewhere the bell housing pattern is the same, dunno if its true.

That kit is only designed for stick cars as the harness doesn't have provisions for an auto, the harness is for the engine management only.

Unless beauman makes something in the near future?
like they did for the 4r70 trans .

Both little alley cat and myself replaced a wounded 4.6 with another aluminum MM motor and a stroker kit with forged pistons, rods, and a forged crank. We both are running the trilogy S/C with the 2.8 pulley. Lidio has weighed in on this topic also. I think the peak HP numbers are better and the stroker certainly adds some torque on the low end, but the reciprocating mass is increased so without any additional power adder, boost, or nitrous the net acceleration gain at the strip is very marginal.
So if you have the engine out and you are doing a rebuild or forging it to handle 450 plus HP, get it stroked as well for a bit more cash. But to remove a good motor to stroke it only would not be worth it, more like $150/hp, not $15/hp.

You can always custom order, wont be cheap but neither will that engine. lol
