hello -- I just bought an 02 Grand Marquis. I am tall and would like the seat to adjust further back. Any suggestions? Thanks.

2003 and newer can be modded for more leg room.

I thought that you removed the bump stop to gain another 1 inch or so of travel on the seat rails?? :dunno:

Hey everyone -- thanks for responding. It's great to be part of this group. I am 6' 5". I had the pedals adjusted all the way down. (Thanks to this forum, I was able to find out why the electric pedal adjustor wouldn't work.) I will take a look behind the seat to see about pulling out that pin. Thanks again!

P.S. My previous car was a '68 Impala. Quite the upgrade! (Love the leather.)

Anyone have a pic of this pin location so I don't accidentally pull the wrong pin out? I little more leg room can never hurt. If the pin is pulled is there any chance the seat can roll off its track?

Run the seat all the way forward.
Drivers side seat track close to the rear, You'll see it.
Vice grips and a good hold, you will have no trouble.
The seat will not go off the track, if you remove the stop pin.
Good luck Muffin, report back after you do it.

Nope, but if you pull a pin and something down there starts smoking and making a hissing sound RUN LIKE HELL,you might have one of the rare cars with the "pineapple anti theft device".
Just kidding, there's only one pin at the back of the track and it sticks out towards the side of the car,gwt a good grip on it with some vise grips and pull it out. I did it to mine and it made a nice difference. After that "mod" there's only two more things I think Mercury could've done to the interior to make it more comfortable, those two things being a heated and telescoping steering wheel.

It has to do with how far back you are when and IF side airbags deploy.

You guys must have ate a lot of Wheety's when you were kid's to not have a good fit in a Grand Marquies!

Now a basket ball player okay I would expect a mod being needed before buying the car LOL!!

I wonder if Ford list's a differnt tack for the drivers seat if they have a customer that is really tall?
