Hey everyone. I am getting near the completion of my swap, and exhaust is next on the list.
Right now the MM motor sits with it's stock manifolds on it. At this moment I am not looking to swap them out, mainly before I don't want to take the motor out right now :depress:
Anyways, the exhaust system in the car is still the 99 Crown Vic's H-Pipe down to the tail. At this point, I cannot use the Vic's down pipes as the manifold's exits are different, etc.
I am not to familiar with exhaust so I was hoping I could get some help on this subject. I guess preferably I would need down pipes, an x-pipe and mount that to the rest of the system.
But after doing research, it looks like that route might not be worth it. Originally I looked at this:
http://www.stage3motorsports.com/product/B46033?meta=FRG&utm_source=GBASE&utm_medium=CPC&utm_content=&utm_campaign=
But by reading it, looks like I would need headers to use this system? Other problem is that this is a 2.5 inch system while the stock pipes in the car I believe are 2 inch.
What do you guys think I should do at this point?
Thanks

Your definately not got gonna get cobra x pipe acessories to work with stock exhaust manifolds, the flanges are night and day. If your gonna keep the MM manifolds you have to get a set of downpipes and cut the flanges off then weld up whatever exhaust components you want. Sounds like you may want to search shorty headers

Thanks for the tips guys. I guess this is another reason to do research BEFORE putting the damn motor in the car
Looks like I will not be finding the easy way out on this one.

Well you don't have to take the motor out of the car to install a set of shorty's and you can find new one's for well under the 300.00 mark. I have sold atleast 6 pair in the last few months and none were more than that. I got a set to ship tomorrow sold for 210.00 and there chrome. The other way out is place a WTB ad here for a set of downpipes and have them cut them before the first set of cats and ship the flange to you. You might even get someone willing to donate them to you. Pretty easy way out! ;)

Sounds to me like you have some options to work out.
1. Leave the MM manifolds installed. Get a set of used MM cats. Either install them as is or cut the flanges off to have custom pipes made either with or without high flow cats.
2. Change to shorty headers and do #1.
3. Change to long tube headers and the cats that are available from the header company.
Notes: As others have stated the engine does not need to be pulled to install headers. And make sure the headers, whether shorties or LT, are going to fit the MM engine in your car since the steering, front crossmember, etc are different.

Yea exactly my thinking, everything you just listed might be in the way, its been a while since I have been under the car but I think I am gonna have to start seeing what I can do.
Thanks guys!
