The purple thing is the nut for the end of the pinion and the other thing is like a stainless ring or something

Yeah that:

3.55 are a waste of money.
He has a Grand Marquies which would have 3.33's in it so it would be a nice over all improvment for the car and still a good cruise mobile in Puerto Rico where he live's.

I was told by steve that the reason FRPP doesnt sell them anymore is because they found out that they dont make a difference in anything and the studs that come with them are plenty good'

Matt, I think he meant this install kit:

You have the pinion nut and crush sleave I see. Did you get new bearings, races, seals, etc.

3.55's are a waste of money, get 373s
still good for cruising, but you will notice a difference off the line. I don't think you'll be happy going from 3.23 to 3.55

I see you can get some wild ratios like 4.30, 4.56 and even 5.11 for an 8.8. I know some guys have tried the 4.30's anyone ever try anything higher or is it lower?

Cool Matt, when is it going in? Remember to take it easy for first 500 miles. No constant speeds for extended periods (over 1 hour) and such.
Break them in with regular dyno oil then switch to full synth. See what your installer thinks...

Don't bother putting anything in the rear unless it's 4.10 or 4.30. Anything else and you won't notice a damn thing, trust me, I've driven them all.
4.10's are perfect all around driving, great in city, just fine on highway.

He's talking about a 2V Grand Marquis with, at best, 3:27 gears in the diff.
I think that the 3:55s would be fine...3:73s at most,
especially considering that he has a 2V engine which is not a high-revver like our 4V engines.
BTW: Nice rear end fortification kit!
