Here's a couple pics of the new idler pulley set-up I made. I can't take credit for the design. It's a Fordnut original.

Turned out really nice.

Thanks. I've got the depth set perfect so it won't need any adjustment if I go 8-rib

You should get some large split loom to cover the radiator hose, it will look better then the cut rubber hose you put on in pic #3. But still nice work!

I assume you still have the templates, so if I get any more inquiries about it I'll send them your way.

No stupid questions right. What is the advantage of this project over what came from the factory? It looks nice but I don't understand what it's supposed to do differently.

It's for cars that have forced induction.

reduce beltslip.

More importantly than belt slip, the cars running a lot of boost are prone to shred belts. One thing that is commonly noticed on the dyno with these setups is the long section of belt between the alternator and the PS pulley will bounce a lot when throttle is released and the belt is unloaded. This additional idler pulley reduces the length and in turn reduces the amount of deflection in the belt when the throttle is released.

I didn't realise it was an additional pulley. Now that I understand that, next question. I take it there is no type of cog belt that would work to eliminate slippage completely?

So would that be an entire bracket assembly that would replace one of the stock gortch brackets?

So would that be an entire bracket assembly that would replace one of the stock gortch brackets? it will be worthless on a eaton or trilogy, but i bet it works wonders on a centrifugal.
