View Full Version : Replacing ADDCO Sway Bar Bushings...Questions
Of course the rear bushings on my car are so bad the entire bar just rattles around.
I searched but could not find any info on replacements. The bar is a 1" OD but the bushing itself has this number on it: 5715-7/8 WTF right?
I found this kit from ADTR.net but am confused the 21mm bushing kit will work:

Can anyone speak from experience here? Thanks...

Merc's list has the part number listed on it Zack. I will try to find it and PM it to you.

I believe the original Addco bars came with a bushing that was customized. The proper size wasn't available at the time so they took a 7/8 and drilled it out.

So the cvpi bar is 17mm, the marauder 18mm, and the addco 21mm?

Thank you VERY much for this info, it makes sense now!

I though they used Energy suspension bushings with the Addco? If not, they would be a good replacement if you can't get the original bushing.

Addco part numbers for the bushings and kits. just add Addco infront of the number and do a search.
Rear:
Midsection 613L
End bushings 609
End kit 016
Front:
Midsection 615
The rest are the same for the end stuff.

musclemerc got me fixed up with the energy suspension part #'s.
So what are the part #'s?
These were the part #'s I just ordered from Jegs.
I took a gamble the front bushings are correct:
355-9-5161G
355-9-5165G

I am sure there are a few guys that might want to pick up spare's if you want to share the part numbers.
Whoops late sorry and thanks
I ordered the greaseable bushings and will have to modify the factory bushing cup and install a grease zerk.

I wonder why Addco didn't do greaseable bushings in the first place?

This is correct! I gotta thank Merc for including this info on his list of MM part's. FYI the rear bar will need to be modified to make it work since the stock strap is'nt the same as the ES part. (drill it and put a zerk fitting in it)

So the cvpi bar is 17mm, the marauder 18mm, and the addco 21mm?
AHHH NO!
The CVPI are 17mm and the Marauders are 21mm and the addco ones are 25mm.
I just ran into this my self, I called addco and they replaced the bushing for free as there is a recall or defect in the earlier ones made.
All I paid was for shipping.

i also noticed mines had been bored out to 1", these will surely fail in time, ill prolly get a "true" 1" set and keep em handy, unless addco stands by the failed ones.

Brad,
Dumb question but how did you determine they were shot beside looking at them?
Did you feel something amiss in driving?
I'm asking as I have had mine on the car for years and haven't noticed anything as of late.

My end link broke on one side and when I replaced them I noticed that the bushings were loose .
I do have some strange thumping over bumps that has been there for a long while.

The Addco bushins are as hard as a rock. I chose not to use them, I went with the ES 9.5161 but you cannot install these without a complete mod to the bushin strap. As far as I know there is only 3 MM's running rear ES bushin's and I did the install on 2 of them.
