So I find myself looking for a body repair shop after some knucklehead put a big dent in my drivers door :bigcry: (while I was parked, looks like someone backed into me).
I've never been to a body shop before, but I want to get this dent fixed.
I hate the idea of bondo being put on my car.

Best bet is to research some of the area shops and see if you can talk to any of their prior customers.
Also see what they offer for a guarantee on their work. If they say life time on parts and labor chances are it is a good shop to deal with just get it in writing.

I was thinking of taking it to a Ford dealership. I figure they can replace the whole door panel, which would be ideal, I think. Thorncrest Sherway ford seems to have a pretty big shop.

Not a lot of dealerships do the body work themselves any more @ least in my area. It may be differnt around you.
But I was told unless the inner door reinforcment is damaged from the impact they usualy do not replace the door just the outer skin.
Just ask a lot of questions on what they plan to do and tell them what you would like and then go from there.
But as I said look for a real guarantee on the work in writing.

Thanks for the tips, especially on getting a guarantee. ;)
I'm prone to taking people at their word, which doesn't always work out in unfamiliar situations.

After a fishy interaction with my neighbour, I have a feeling it was their kid driving their minivan. I've seen that boy make very bad U-turns on the street before, banging up his dads van, more than once.
That, and the paint left behind on my car is the same colour as their van, and their van is the right shape to have produced the particular pattern left on my door.
We've been neighbours for a long time - what to do... what to do?

Personaly I would confirm the dent vs their bumper with a ground to dent measurment and do the same to their vehicle then confront them and see what they say.
If they are cool people they will take care of it.

Try Twin Hill Ford Lincoln.
I would recommend Birchcliff Ford Lincoln, but they had ceased operations and merged with Evans Ford many years ago. They did an amazing job on my Grand Marquis.
