When I pulled my car out from my dads garage I noticed oil by the rear diff. It wasn't too bad, but enough for my attention. I decided to change the rear diff gasket in my garage. After I changed it I had to take a dump so I left the car. When I got back I put all of my stuff away and drove off. I heard some really bad grinding shortly after, then it occured to me... I forgot to put the oil in. :mad2:
I made it back, but this sounds like trouble. I hope I don't have to replace the rear end for the third time in a year. I put the fluid in and let it sit. We will see what happens tomorrow.
What's the first thing to go out when there is no fluid? Everything?

I wish I could say unbelievable. :shake: Maybe in the future you should make a check list of all procedures that need to be completed and then check them off as completed.

I'm just trying to imagine, how intense was this dump you took that you forgot to install a critical component on your vehicle?

Usually if I have to drop heat in the middle of the project, I put the next step out in the open so I see it and remember where I left off.

+2!
Dom, don't you know that you should always pinch a loaf before starting any car mods/maintenance..!?!?
It makes bending over, and moving around under the car much easier...and fart free!
Hope that you didn't drive it too far with no gear oil...

Well you just got Haggis' attention.
You know, as I typed those words in my post,
I considered rephrasing it because I just KNEW that someone would quote it as a sexual innuendo...
I was right!....I can always count on the consistency of this site!
