If the rear shocks are moved inside the frame rails?

I have these two really wide 18" marauder rims that I cannot use anymore. With the new DD Black marauder, I could have them narrowed to a more reasonable width.

That is, unless someone wants to buy a pair of end table rims with 18" wide tires to put under glass...

9.5" seems to be the safe way to go.

How much would you want for this pair of end table bases?

I've heard that MM wheels widened to 9" would be fine.

but what do u think if they werent stock rims?..... if they were 20 inch staggered... do u think that it would still b able to run a 10 in the rear ad a 9 in the front?....

just wondering your opinion

PM GMtech for tire size, he is running 20"X10" without issues.

With the correct offset 9's will fit upfront without rubbing. Its much easier just go with a 8.5" and be done with it however IMO

Seriously, John...

How wide are the rims? No changes on the stock front side spacing? I'm thinking of going 315/35/20 and have been working with offsets and such. I've also considered going back to real Marauder rims.

I'm sure the 18" Mickey's would never fit, but I WOULD consider relocating the shock mounts.

Post up all the info. I think it could work with a proper spacer and a slightly smaller tire.

I'd like to explore this possibility.

Now that I have a beater daily driver Marauder, I have these extremely wide 18x18 marauder rims that could be sent back to Weldcraft and narrowed back to whatever I can fit if the shock is moved inboard of the frame. I am guessing, without looking under the car, that the rim could be an easy 10-11" inches without hitting the frame. If that is indeed the case, I'll take these rims and reduce them as such so I could get a 315 or 325 tire on them and still fit.

I'll have this car running in a couple weeks and then look at what it takes with the shocks. I have 3 pair of QA1 shocks on the bench and one of the pairs should work with custom mounts on the inside of the frame and to the axle.

Maybe I'll do "kits".

Hmmm...

Well, John...

My rims are 10" wide, but are 10mm less (40) offset (when they were 8") than stock. So I started 10mm further out and went 2" in.

What I see is that the control arms are the obstacle less than the shock towers. For me, I plant to grind/cut the towers about 1/2" for plenty of clearance. At that, my 10" wide rims with 10mm more to the outside than stock will hold a 315 and just barely clear the control arms by 1/4" or so.

I don't think you'll fit a 315 or 325 without a spacer of at least 10-15mm - even on a 10" rim.

Further a 315/35/20 (for me) calls for a 10.5" rim - minimum - so I'm pushing it as it is. Obviously an 18" rim would be in the 40-45 aspect ratio neighborhood and would be more rim-width forgiving.

All in all, I think 10" wide is the max even messing with the shock towers and you might likely need a spacer for such a big tire....

See, I could not remember if the control arms were inboard, outboard or in the middle of the frame. I still have a couple weeks before it is even rolling so I will revisit this thread when I have it out of the garage and can look it over in detail.

You can tell it's not the highest priority! :P
