This year I had bought the rear end cover from Wes @ Innovative Interceptors to fix the rear end leak that I noticed.
As well as the deep tranny pan from Dennis @ Reinhartautomotive just to upgrade it as well.
But for the rear end cover I had something special in mind to make it unique.
Going to give them a chrome look and on the rear end cover it will say Mercury in GOLD lettering going accross the center bridge.
Here is a couple of pics to give you an idea of what I am doing.
And I will post the end project pics as well.

Just so you get the jist of the before and middle idea look and I will post again when they are all done and ready to go on the Marauder.
I am sure a lot of you will think it is too much or over the top junk but I want to stay within the line's of the work I already did and have planed out for her.
Go ahead and say I am crazy I am expecting it anyways LOL!

She sits all winter long and starting in a few day's will be in a garage for it instead of outside.
The engine work I did is holding up just fine and no issues at all. The lettering is metal not plastic and I am using a special bonding agent to hold them in place when I am ready.

I kind of like the personal touch in most stuff going on the car.
and want to try and stay with the theam of what I already did on the engine.

I am just waiting on the LubeLocker gasket to come in so I can install it and repair the leak.
Here are the pics with and without flash.

I will take a picture of it again once it is on the Marauder.
Ya the lettering is a bit defused compaired to the cover in color brightness but it's because I used a differnt gold from what I did on the engine. My mistake but I think it looks good non the less.

If you hav'nt glued the letters down yet I would consider milling the writing off that the Mfg. put in place. It looks kinda busy seing through to the extra writing.

The only way you can see the lettering anyways is if you get under the car basicly.
I wanted a really flat surface to work with for the lettering so justleft it alone. They are already attached now other wise I would have bought and gone with the Gold I used on the engine instead.
I was more worried about time than absolute perfection on a part that will most likely be seen only by the dealership when I let them do the oil changes on her.
I want to paint the axle black before I start to consider having a mirror or anything under the car @ shows or cruise nights.

Next project is the timming cover I got from Zack but not sure when it will go on the Marauder yet. Probably after Carlisle sometime or @ the end of the show year so it will be ready for the next year.
Timming cover, altinator, and all of the pully's will be done in one shot this time. And match the timming cover to the upper intake plenum.

For you guys not yet familier with it a company called Lube Locker make's rear end gaskets a lot like the one's we have on our engine's.
They are reusable and do not need any type of sealer used for them to work. These are very popular with guys who off road with 4x4's and they make them for many differnt type's of rear ends.
Anyways here are the pics. You can usualy find one for around $22.00 max. I got this through:
http://www.knowwhere2jeep.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?key words=lube+locker+8.8&osCsid=sibj8l4r70neaqbrs18impn pe2
for $17.95.

The guy @ the jeep place I got the gasket from said most off roaders use this gasket because when they break something it make's the change over on the guts easy as pie because there is no cleaning or scraping needed.
Wipe the fluid off where the gasket sits and bolt it up walla it is a done deal.
On his jeep he said the gasket has been on there for well over 100,000 miles and has never leaked once after all the times it got used and reused.
BTW he also uses the TA cover like I am about to put on my Marauder.

Here are some before during and after pictures of the rear end.
Just some advice for guys wanting to do the TC cover. There is a holding bracket held on with 3 bolts for the emergency brake cables.
This will not work with the TC cover unless you cut off the 2 outer bolt holders and just use the center one only to secure it.
And you need to drop the sway bar down to get this up in place. Other than that and a bit of a tight fit with tools due to how close it sit's to the gas tank not that bad a job to do.

Now I have to get the tranny fluid from Ford so I can do the deep tranny pan as well.
Also changed out the o2 sensor that was acting up on the left forward bank. I have been waiting all winter to do that one LOL!
Also on fluid fill I have a couple of sugestions to make it easier.
Once the cover is off use a rag and clean out the gear well of all the old gear fluid sitting inside of it.
Leave the old fill plug out of the rear end to start with. Run a hose into the new upper rear fill plug on the new cover out past the tire so you can stand up and fill the rear end up through that.
Add fluid till you see it comming out the old fill plug. Then put it back in and tighten it up. Re-Fill a friction modifier bottle up you already emptied out with the gear oil and then pour that last bottle of fluid into the hose as well for the final amount of fluid you can add.
In total I put in more than 64 oz of gear oil plus 2 bottles of friction modifier and 1 refilled bottle of friction modifier seeing it took so much fluid to fill it.
If you do not drag out the gear well with the old fluid sitting in it you will use less fluid.
By the way before I caped off the upper fill plug on the new cover my finger just bairly diped into the gear oil so that was perfect to say the least.

Something seems odd....
You put 5 bottles of fluid + 3 bottles of friction modifier?
I think you put too much....That would mean your rear end is almost COMPLETELY full...
You do know that the fill plug (the level you should be at) is located on the opposite side of the cover, drivers side...
Do you notice fluid spewing out the breather hose? I'm sure it will get all over your mufflers....once you drive it...

I left the forward fill plug open and off for starters and used the new TC rear end cover as a fill point.
I added 2 32oz bottles of gear oil and 2 friction modifiers to the rear end before it started to come out the normal fill and check point on the rear end. I caped it off and then refilled one of the empty friction modifier bottles and toped off the rear end with that then put the new covers fill plug back in.
I took the time to empty out the gear well in the rear end there is a big cup in there that holds a lot of fluid most miss that and or don't bother with it.
But to answer your question yes I did run the rear wheels while it was up on the jack stands to make sure the vent tube did not pump out fluid and then took her out for a ride on the highway came back and took a look to make sure all was well.
