I have been hearing a noise that I couldn't explain till I removed the blower belt and inspected the 2.8 pulley. Thanks Doom, you saved the day with a replacement pulley. As for what happened, it's your best guess.

Looks like that pulley was hit with a hammer....

What happened?

How did the key way get damaged like that?

Aloha

The pulley was hit with a hammer, and I few other tools to remove it. The clean up of the shaft also took some time to repair and sand.

Any idea what caused the damage?

Are you concerned that by removing it with a hammer you damaged the blower seals?

You running a Centri...correct?

It wasn't removed with a hammer, a pulley extraction tool was used and the seal was inspected.

The new tensioner could be the cause, but not likely.

Enjoy the bling! :D :coolman:

Could it be the tensioner?

I don't have a picture of the new bling yet, but it looks extremely good with my setup. I am going to have to hook you up with a hood liner soon. :) Thanks again.

Could there be a possibility of a broken tooth on one of the gears in the blower causing a floating chunk to temperarely jam up between the two gears? Looks like that key way is way too strong for it's own good.

WOW, I have the same tensioner, I sure hope that's not the issue.

Its not the tensioner.

This is where a steel hub and aluminum pulley save the day.

How did you know thats what I was thinking?:coolman: Any manufacturers you know of that make such a thing with the proper offset for the trilogy kit?:help:

I'm starting to think it maybe from the tensioner being maxed out... not tensioning anymore... at the limits of its travel. And the belt slipping and gripping the pulley beating the soft aluminum to death.

Its hard to form a theory how this happened but from the looks of the back of the pulley itself... someone was mean to it at one point

I hate being first, but the 3.4 pulleys shipped with the trilogy kits were made of steel. Now I see why. :o

I called Magnuson products Inc and they sell a steel 2.8 pulley for 65 dollars. What I need is the offset size. Does anyone have a stock Trilogy pulley with the part number?
