Maybe if you keep your word, stuff like this wouldn't happen?

Clean and wax the car. Use a wax for black cars.

Get the very fine 3m polish and fallow the directions on the bottle.

You can fix it if it is not deep scratches and just the clear coat.

There is a how to video at the bottom of the page as well.

I have a cheaper and easier solution. Took all my fine scratches out in less then a minute.

I would except its in my car and I dont recall the name of it at the moment. I had the fine swirls and little scratches from my cover. I used this product and it took them all out. Its basically a light compound/polish but safe for clear coats.

I'm going to try this on my black daily driver:

http://www.poorboysworld.com/products/pws.jpg

Though at roughly $20 for pint I'm not sure if it qualifies as "cheap" but is what I'm willing to spend based on a recommendation of a friend. Not sure the Marauder needs it....I've got oodles of tricks for that thing depending on what mood the paint is in.

Of course, there is always this: http://www.detailersdomain.com/swissvax-divine.aspx

Alright, heres the magic formula. I used it this weekend on a few members cars and and it didnt let them down.

Turtle wax premium grade rubbing compound. It works for heavy oxidation and scratches.
http://www.turtlewax.com/img/products/pd_tw_premrubbing.jpg

Apply it like a wax in a back and forth motion. Not in circles!! Its a very light compound and clear coat safe so it won't hurt your finish or cause any damage that a normal rubbing compound would. It worked wonders on my car with the car cover marks and the fine scratches. Any car cover will cause fine scratches so unfortunately it can't be avoided.
Once you do a panel completely, go over it with your wax of choice and your car will look like it was just freshly painted.

While I am not a fan of turtle wax products, this stuff works! but dont use alot of it on one area.

Had the same problem with a friend's car. Gotta make sure the car, and the inside of car over are squeaky clean. Get tiedowns for the cover so it can't move around if it is outside and exposed to wind. Also, when taking it off, down just pull it off. Take one side at a time and fold it toward the center of the car. Next, fold the back of the cover towards the hood then lift it off. Repeat process in reverse to put the cover back on.

I don't trust myself or anyone else with a machine on my car. My car had a ton of swirls when I bought it, the first thing I did that removed the heavy swirls was using this product Presta Chroma 1500 on a vibrating buffer (not a spinning type)

My brother in law was a autobody man and he recommended this highly. This isnt a wax or has anything to cover any blemishes, it cuts through the scratches and removes everything off the surface. Then just wax on top and it looks like glass when you're done. I use the Turtle wax product as a quick hand touch up to remove the minor scuffs left by the cover.

What's the word on if you should swirl or rub side to side? So with scratch removers ect you should go side to side, and when waxing swirl?

Never swirl on a dark colored car. I don't recommend swirl on any color car. I always go left to right or up and down in a even motion.

Looks like a nice alternative...I never saw that before but the 3M works great on the Bike...I havent used it on the car yet, though I should ;)
