So i was thinking about putting a "T" in the oil line when i tap the feed for the Vortech and was wondering if there is some sort of oil pressure switch that i can hook up to a pair of LED's on my gauge pod? Green for good pressure, Red for bad or off....

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Matt

Do you have the REAL oil pressure gauge mod? The signal off of the stock switch should give you that. Would probably need a relay to cycle between the red and green for you.

It is very easy I made a kit for that years ago, you need a OPS and T it into your OEM sending unit or a upgraded Autometer, go to radio shack buy a 12V small led run 12 V with key on to one side and the ground goes to the OP switch, when you roll the key to the run position the light will come on when the car starts up, the light will go off, if OP drops below 12 PSI it comes on I will look for pictures.

Here is what I was going to use but I went with a small red Led.

OPS? Can i run a red and green one? So i dont even need to mess with a pressure switch or anything eh? Very cool.

OPS = Oil Pressure Switch

Doing both would probably take a relay so that one going off/on makes the other one go on/off.

Hmmm.... ill have to take a look into that.

A real reading guage is far easier, but I have a low light right beside it.

I plan on getting the real Auto Meter gauge where the old one is at, but i wanted the LED up by my a/f and boost gauge so its right there in front of me.

It is very easy to install.

That's what I did, but it's just a red one. It comes on when you turn the key on and there's no oil pressure so you know it's working, then it goes off as soon as you start the car.

The a-pillar pod on mine currently has a fuel pressure and boost gauge, I'm going to switch things up a bit and add a mechanical oil pressure gauge there, then change the oil pressure gauge in the OEM location to an oil temperature gauge.

Sweet... i knew someone did around here. :)

Thanks!

If you are converting to the real oil pressure gauge you can use the OEM OPS for your LED's and not have to buy one. Don't quote me on this, I'm just guessing, but I would think the OEM OPS would work opposite of your normal OPS seeing as how our OEM indication is normally ON (gauge working with good pressure) and the avg OPS is normally off (no light with good pressure).

Maybe one of the guys with the wiring diagrams could chime in and correct me if there is a relay or module involved.
