They use the full synthetic on my Marauder and I like the fact the maintance work is on file with the VIN check for her so I just let them do it.
I only get charged $38.00 for the oil change each time so I am happy with that plus I do not have to worry about bringing the old oil to a place to have recycled.

And I have never heard that any one synthetic was not compatable with another when it comes to engine oil.
I just don't trust most aditives unless it is to help an older style engine that is starting to have issues.

if you do it yourself and buy the stuff at walmart, it only runs about 28 bucks.
oil is usualy like 25 bucks for a big jug and the filter is only 2 or 3

6 qts Amsoil 0-30 in my CV Sport. I change it about 10,000 miles since I do mostly highway miles. I could go longer intervals according to Amsoil, but I'm just not comfortable with that. Even though it is highwya miles, they are hard miles in my opinion. That's because some of it is rush hour traffic. But when I work the night shifts, it is easier on the car.

Even though I run synthetic oil due to the fact that I can go longer between changes and my car sits more then it drives so I have that piece of mind that the oil wont break down, I don't agree that it lubricates better then regular oil. The big horse power engines of the 60s and 70s didn't run on synthetic, neither did NASCAR race engines or even dragsters of the day.
I use 5W-20 royal purple or Mobil 1. My filters are either Motorcraft, RP or K&N. Generally when I can get 5 qts of RP with a filter for only $50 then I get that, otherwise I look for a motorcraft filter and use the K&N if they are sold out.

5k miles.
and why did he tell you to switch back
After switching from the dino breakin oil to the synthetic I started getting some seepage past the oil pan gaskets. He told me to switch back and it would stop.
My engine builder also suggested dino oil.

Here's the scoop on oil:
The major benefits from using synthetic vs. dino are:
1. Greater resistance to oxidation. This means it will withstand higher temps without breaking down.
2. Better flow at low temps. Good for those in the Great White North.
3. Better additive pack. Allows extended drains.
4. Needs little or no viscosity index improver. This means it doesn't shear out of grade.
Other than those things, synthetic doesn't "lubricate" any better than conventional.
For the record, I use Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 in both Marauders and Motorcraft 5W-20 in everything else I service.

Not gonna bother sifting thru the last 3 pages.
For the Marauder, I use whatever full-syn is on sale. Usually Syntec though I've used others. Almost always use FL820's. I change by color mostly, never go more than 5000 miles.
On the Magnum I run syn-blend and change at 5000.

Amsoil 5-20 with Amsoil Filter
I have used it exclusively for 15+ years.
I am not sure what change intervals I will do with the MM and the new motor.
I go 25K or once a year with a filter change midway in the Mark 8 for 90K miles so far, pull the stick it's still clear.
My last F150 went 160K miles on 6 oil changes using their bypass oil filter. It was crystal clear when I changed it too. Never leaked a drop out of a 351W.
Sold the truck 4 years ago.

Kennyrauder likes ya too! Funny , my 300A puffs blue on Mobil 1... Royal purple no puff on start up. Go figure ????? I really think we are way too taken up with our lube issues. Back in 1970 I did a suicide run on a bet with my 69 Charger... 383 4 barrel with 323 gears.Quebec City to Timmins Ontario in 12 hours flat. There were times that this Dodge never went under 100 miles per hour & some lengthy 4or 5 mile runs tapped at 135 mph. Oil back then was not even close to what it is now. Why are we so worried.?????

FRPP part number is CM-6731-FL820S, although I don't know why you'd want to use it as it's 3X the price and the only thing it offers is a higher burst pressure on the can. The regular Motorcraft FL820S is an excellent filter for a reasonable price, and it's available everywhere.
