Does cams consider n/a
MrBluGruv

huh?
I think you're asking if when you upgrade camshafts, you are still considered N/A?
If so, the answer is yes.
Unless I'm misunderstanding what you put...

The only time you are not N/A is if you are using forced induction aka power adder via a supercharger or turbo. Also using nitrous, at the time of spraying would not make you N/A because it is consider a power adder.

think u so whats your opinion on putting them on the car

Most members here will tell you it is not worth it, the gains are very minimal until you get to some pretty radical cam profiles and at that point, it's creating power much higher in the RPM band than you will probably ever see. Considering we have 4 camshafts to replace, you're easily looking at around $1000 for parts, and labor to put those in isn't exactly cheap. With that kind of money, you could do much better things for the car.
My personal opinion: don't do cams unless you're running boost, and even then probably not until you're running lots of it.

I agree with blugrove but cams can make for a b*tchen lope sounding engine...money no object

^ I've heard mixed opinions on the lope factor.
Some have said that our motors basically can't get that sound no matter what,
But then I've also actually seen footage of Mach 1 Mustangs and I believe even an MM with a huge cam that loped like mad.
In the end, like mentioned, it's a huge outlay just for sound f/x.

They are not worth the money from the cost and install of them. The cost out weighs the performance value aspect of them unless you are going all out on a motor and have oodles of money to spend.

I would love to have the lope. Nothing like the sound of a cammed engine.

Actually there alot of mustang guy's running 96~98 cobra cams on 03~04 engines. Their cheap and readily available and do show gains in HP and tourque. Bobcat you really need to work on your communication skills.

Vid of basically our motor with a radical cam. It has the choppy idle, no idea of power return and low-end drivability though.

They are about a 50hp gain chainging the cam shafts to those MrBluGruv
With proper timming adjustment and air fuel mixture and gives you a much better take off torque wise.

As much as I say it's not worth it to get that setup, if they were $500 or less, I'd definately be singing a different tune...

Same here. At the price vs power gain, its not worth it.

Cams are not cost effective by themselves...
they do work, but 15 -> 25 HP for $1,500 (Four cams + labor to disassemble the front half of the engine for a cam swap)
If you are rebuilding the engine and already have it torn down, then you might want to investigate having a set of more aggressive cams installed.

Heres the comp cams featured in the video.

Over $1000 for parts, then finding someone who can setup the cam timing. Too much cash, but they do sound great.

True. Those HP gains are more in line with what has been reported. The price for cams can range from $500 to $1200 depending on if you get used, new Ford, or new aftermarket with a performance grind. About $1500 for a custom grind. I was quoted $1000 to install a set, but that was as a side job instead of shop rate, a good shop may charge $1500 to install them.

$2500 for 25 HP. Just get the Jesel cam followers. "easy" to install get about the same power gain for that money.

I'll believe that when I see it.
But I know a guy who put them in his 2003 Mach1 and I saw the before and after dyno runs @ Jenetty Racing here in Waterbury and his total gain was 47 HP and 15 torque.
And a nice effect with his shakerhood as well.

that mach sounds mean as ****. im really considering a set of cams for my motor when i get it done, the sound alone is worth it.

Keep forgetting I'd need 32 - MMR Claims 20-40 HP gain.

I got real excited when I first read about those Jesel roller followers...then I saw the price!....
No way could I ever justify, even in my "any mod is good" head, paying that kind of coin for cam followers...:shake:
I almost gagged when I had to pony up $900 for a set of Crower cams...and that was only because of a pricing error by Summit Racing.
(They should have been $1,200+!)

I'd believe the power numbers, but at $124 x 32, the $3968 is a bit hard to swallow.
