View Full Version : Colours, a red or silver MM to blue, dark green?

Hi folks,

I'm hoping to buy a '04 MM within the next year. the selection here in southern ontario seems very limited, i see 3 black 03's right now within a reasonable distance.

Not sure how much of a chore it is to bring one up from the US, detroit and area seem to be a hotbed with more than a few hurting households no doubt. I see 55 MM's US wide on auto trader.com, several near/in detroit including a few silver\red's at seemingly good buys.

Now for colours. i like black, love blue[no '04's], silver and red are not for me in general. So, if there is indeed a "discount" on the silver and red, buying one of these and finding the best painter in town seems like an option to me.

I like the dark blue on the '03, has anyone seen a dark green?

I know i'm treading on perhaps a touchy subject, i would never want to dishonour the beast with a poor taste choise!

Whatcha think?

Cheers, kernie.

I am partially to the Blue MMs; but really like 'em all.

There was never a dark green MM produced. Maybe in a one-off color from a repaint. Detroit has alot of custom colors including a :puke: puke green one.

I know they never "produced" green, and i really don't mean the light version of your vomit there, he he.

When i say dark green i mean the type of green that you might mistake for black at night. I think a good job with the right shade would look good.

BTW bluerauder, i have admired your car in the photo section, i do like that blue! A '04 with that [painted] blue works for me.

Cheers, kernie

A real dark green would be awesome like the NH police. If you do a paint swap sacrifice a black there common place:D

Thanks for the compliment. The Bluerauder does look nice when she's all clean and shiney. Looks like crap during pollen season. :o

BigDogJim (BDJ) has always suggested that a Hunter Green (or British Racing Green) MM would look good .... I think that's the kind of dark green you are looking for. Gotta be a custom job though. Think I saw a Grand Marquis in that type of dark green this morning as I dropped the wife off to work.

You will have a tough time finding an '04 in Canada.
In the last three years, I was watching Autotrader and there were no '04s for sale in Canada. Your best bet is to import one from the USA.

nothing like a factory paint job. if you want black buy black. To make a silver car black is silly. $ 8,000 to do it right.

Well i wouldn't paint one black, i guess i didn't clarify that, and if it was any more than 4 grand to paint, that wouldn't work either.

My point was if your looking for a '04 and don't care for silver or red, your choise is very limited, if there is a discount on silver or red...

Just an idea, perhaps a bad one.

Cheers, kernie

I think a dark metallic forest green (like my old Tacoma) would be nice. Frankly Im sick of black, white, silver and grey cars.

The Crown Vic Sport came in a nice Dark Green color in 2003 or 2004.

As I recall reading once, dark green was the next color choice for the Marauder, but, alas, production ceased before the next year.

I do remember one red a while back, i think it was in ottawa on kijiji. When the time comes, fall/storage timeline, i will try to find my 04\low miles\no salt. There must be some around here in the home turf of STAP workers. I tried finding a plant workers discussion forum, no luck yet.

If not, importing one may work, my brother inlaw brought a used jeep over on a trailer and claimed to save bucks. I just hate that border and the misery the guards can inflict, both ways!

The very first Marauder I ever seen back in 03 WAS a Dark Metallic Green. It was obviously a custom job, but looked 100% stock, and yes it was a real Marauder. It looked classy as all get out. I had no idea till later that that color wasn't an option or I would have stuck around and waited for him/her to come out of the store.

Of course colour is simply a personal preference, my wife prefers silver, i'm partial to DARK blue\green.

Very nice looking car silversurfer, the dark tint really sets it off.

i looked for 2 years before i found a member on here from Sudbury selling his black MM. i took a greyhound 9 hrs to sudbury, bought it and drove it home. best decision i ever made.

btw why does it have to be an '04?

Well it doesn't really "have to" be a '04, but, a year newer\less mileage\better tranny\axle issues?\paint quality?.

I know the above issues are fixable, but why not avoid them if you can?

7,839 '03's, 3,214 '04's built. By default, '04's are going to be harder to find.

IMO, difference between the '03 and '04 transmissons are NBD for under normal driving situations, and the axles were primarily issues on early '03 production, same holds for the majority of paint issues; mostly on 300As. If you can find a nice, low mileage '03, go for it.

I think I have the only Blue MM in Canada, correct me if I'm wrong and it is a true Canadian car.

If you come to Ottawa look me up your not that far from where I live. I recently added a tune from Lidio and some other things.

I may consider selling it as a rental property in my neighborhood which I have had my eye on has come up for sale.

Kernie if any of the cars are in the Ottawa area let me know, I can go look at them for you and snap lots of pics. I don't mind.

To answer your question Blue is my first choice. I get compliments on this thing all the time.

Hey JimP, thanks for the offer to snap pics, ect.

"the only blue one in canada", thats just plain cool! I really need to settle down though as im just not in the position to buy till october or so. If your car were to be for sale at that time then i would love to investigate further. I'm sure if you were to make it available sooner, you would find a willing market out there.

I gotta say though, a blue MM or a rental property, hmmm...,he he.

Cheers, kernie.

no rush to sell. Only reason I wanted to buy another property is for the future. I have two young kids. want to leave them with something in the future like my father did for me. I'd still have a toy though, I also have an 87 GN. I love this MM though don't get me wrong I'd love to keep it. Stay in touch and keep us posted. If I ever do decide to sell I will post on this site first.

My offer to look at any MM's out this way for you still stands so don't be shy.

Good luck with your search

As I remember, there were two Canadian Blue MMs that showed up at Marauderville III in Detroit (August 2005). One belonged to "wesman" and he had a pusher bar on the front. I can't seem to recall the other Canadian guy; but he took a drag racing trophy at the MV III races at Milan. As I recall, he was dead on with his "dial-ins" and wicked on his R/Ts.

The other 3 Blues that were there at MV III were: Bluerauder, Daily03, and Mark Urhman. Blue03 flew in from the west coast and had a rental.
