They were touted to increase gas mileage, stop rear bumper sag and stop bumper cover ballooning at high speed. I have had one for years and I can see absolutely no advantage other than it might keep mounded medians from catching enough of the bumper cover to tear it off should you shoot across one of them. That was the reason used to sell them to the LEOs. There have been a lot of them sold so others may have a different story but I would use a grain of salt. I have seen both bumper cover and pro guard torn off. Dennis

It can't hurt to install one.

If it keeps the bumper cover from sagging it's worth it.

I agree that there is no downside and it can't hurt but it definately will not keep the bumper from sagging as the support is horizontal to the bottom of the bumper cover. The only fix for sagging appears to be adding to the members at the top of the bumper that support the cover itself. The archives have info on this. Dennis

click the link in my sig to see how I supported mine with proguard. not hard, my rear bumper is way better now. supported plus no ballooning. well worth the little money and time to do it.

Why not just do a bumper tuck? Is it different on a marauder than the crown vic? A few zip ties and you're done...

bumper tuck>?

I think he's talking about something kinda like what Zack did, where he zip tied the bumper to the supports. Prob what I'll do when mine starts to sag

bumper tuck>?

You remove the bolts from the brackets, spin the brackets 90 degrees so they don't hit the bottom of the bumper, insert a zip tie (or 2 for extra support), and cinch the bumper up to the bar directly above it. You can tighten it up to your liking. It cleans up the look of the rear end, and eliminates the sagging and "ballooning" effect we get on the freeway.

Definitely a "must do" in my book :)

not sure what brackets you are refereeing to. when i pulled my bumper off to fix the sag under the tail lights, i didnt see anything that could be rotated.

There should be two, you just remove the bolts and spin them up out of the way so that when you cinch the bumper up it clears them. It literally takes 5 minutes to do.

Yeah, been there tried that. It doesn't look good on a Marauder IMHO

Well, that Pro Guard under-body/skid plate thingy might clean up the under-body air flow, which should help the co-efficient of drag, especially above 100 mph, or so. But, it also might increase under-body lift, at high speed. It is really more of an off-road skid-plate idea (think of the POR Rally/Rally cars).

Me, I likey my factory rear spoiler...it helps me take the corners as I approach 200 mph on the high banks.

Hahahahahahaha

Now, when will someone come up with a better front air dam?
