Finishing a left on a red when a GMC Sierra ran the light and took my front end with him, thankfully no one was hurt... AND!!! It's not totalled! :D

What a relief!

If we didn't hit the brakes they would have used it as our coffin and buried us in it. It was a 35 he sped up to about 70!!! Then had the nerve to ask why I was RAGED!

You lost the badgeless grill! Are you going to get the body shop or him to get you a new one?

My insurance company guarantees full repair. I forgot to tell the guy about the custom grill..... I was afraid that 1 more thing would cause a total.

Is it too late to mention it?

As long as you have a picture to prove it was on there you should be coverd you just might have to point them in the right direction to getting another one.

Although some insurance companys will only cover the original equipment unless you have an adition to the policy that covers after market add on's. You may have
to go over your policy to double check and make sure.

Man that sucks!
It's hard to look at your Marauder in that condition.
Glad you are 'OK'.

Might want to look into diminished value depending on how many miles you had on your Marauder....ask me why I know...:(

I was hoping to see a new paint job or new chin spoiler, not anything like that!! Glad no one was hurt and that it's repairable.

What do you mean by diminished value?

I just went through this mess when my Marauder got rear-ended in November.

1st: I found a body shop (thanks to a local MM.net member's recommendation) that wanted to use only new OEM parts.
They went to bat for me with the other guy's insurance company and made sure that I got all new parts.
This was accomplished because of the very low miles on my Marauder when it was hit.
The insurance companies are required to use replacement parts that are no older & less mileage than the parts that were damaged.
His insurance company kept wanting us to use old taxi cab trunklids and other used parts!

2nd: Contact the guy's insurance company and request compensation for "diminished value".
If your Marauder was never in a major accident prior to this, then there is a good chance that you are due additional money.
Your Marauder now has a major accident on it's record and if you were to sell it you would not get as much money for it because of the accident.
Check out this site, I just used them for a full appraisal on my Marauder for diminished value. (Thanks Charlie!)

BTW I goofed seeing his insurance company is repairing your Marauder they have to cover everything that was destroyed in the accident so yes your badgless grill is coverd.

But any reported accident that stays with the VIN number of the car deminishes the value of the car forever. So what Joe Walsh is saying is to find out how much it has effected the value of your car and make the insurance company or the guy that hit you pay for this loss in value which just goes into your pocket or bank!

Do they have to do this by law?

That's a heck of a hit - it's odd how it tore everything off clean. It only looks bad but I am guessing $4500 damage from experience. See if you can take pics as the work progresses. Good thing you're alright - she will be better than new before you know it!

Do they have to do this by law?

Each state has it's own set of rules and laws that govern how the insurance company's have to handle or conduct business.

The easiest way to find out is ask your own insurance company because the one that has to pay you money is going to lie or withhold any info that would go in your favor.

My Marauder was T-Boned about 2 years ago, It was repaired back to all its beauty. I was able to get the entire car repainted since half the car needed to be painted from the damage.

My only regret is not taking it to a Mercedes or Lexus repair shop, I had it repaired at a local ford dealership thinking that they could get the factory parts eaiser. In the end the car looks great but 2 years later and the small details show more and more everyday. Eventually I plan on having the whole car done over, dont know when the bank will allow that, but that is the plan.

Hang in there, I was without mine for about a month, insurance covered the rental and in the end I got my baby back.
