Hey bud, I have a question for you after stumbling upon this on svtperformance:
Motor Built by MMR
Boss Stroker Street Mod 900S
5.3L 324ci 9.6:1cr
FRPP Boss 302 Modular Iron Block
Manley 18cc Dish 2618 Alloy 3.70 Bore Pistons
Manley 4340 Stroker H-Beam Rods
MMR 4340 Forged 3.750 Stroke Crankshaft (8 Bolt)
ARP Head/Main Studs & Bolts, Speed Pro Rings (Setup for FI)
MMR Stage 2 P&P Heads/Stainless Steel Valves
MMR Ported Intake w/PHP Intake Spacer
FRPP Ford GT Cams/Comp Cam Valve Springs
FRPP 39LB Injectors & GT-40 Fuel Pump
MMR Racing Oil Pump & Windage Tray
SCT 3000 MAF & X-CAL 3, Accel COP
FRPP Shorty Headers, Magnaflow X Pipe, Flowmaster 40s
JLT CAI
(315rwhp/357rwtq)
Uhhhhh... You don't have 10.5 to 1 compression. There's your power loss. It's built up for FI. I thought you had flat tops and a higher than 8.5 to 1 cr. Get yourself sc'd silly!!! :D

Yes... and 14cc, 18cc... ??? It makes a diference. Manley makes them with different dish sizes. CR changes with that and horsepower changes with cr. You know that though. :burnout:

He has a big bore. The same dish on a standard 4.6 will not be the same compression on a 3.70 bore block.

Hey Chris!
Looks like you are collecting some 'goodies' for an upcoming project..?

Yeah, I know, just tryingt to pin down what the exact cr is. I have all the charts for all mod mottor combos. Just wanted numbers to input to get actual cr. If it is 18cc, should be right around 9.6 on the 5.3 which I believe is what he listed. He still needs an sc on that puppy! :D

RacerX,
Ive been speaking with Mark Luton about my build and MMR has some custom pistons for their Big Bore Combo. The cc, head gasket, deck clearance, deck height all contribute to the compression ratio. Mark states they use custom Manley pistons on their Big Bore combos which are not off the shelf. With that said, he was the main engine builder of my project and the overall cr should be 10.5:1 as I ordered....typically there is a Engine Builders Specification sheet sent with all MMR short/long blocks. I never received this (TPS or MMR lost it) but Mark is trying to locate it for me. Trust but verify comes to mind here I cant verify the piston dish cc...or cr only "faith" that Mark/MMR put in what I ordered...10.5:1. Why dont you email/call him info@modularmustangracing.com 805 650 1853 and ask him what dish piston on a Boss50 would get you to 10.5:1cr and see what he says....
As far as my power output...cant really determine but its a combination of tune and a mechanical issue on one of my heads. I have the Marauder passenger side head pulled and being inspected as we speak due to ticking noise. Mark has offered to pay for shipping but down time is my main concern. I may just a have a local machine shop do the repair if its something minor and work it out with Mark (he was open to that)...it is what it is.

Update:MMR heads
my tuner said the following when asking about the P&P on the heads "Hey buddy, I left another message with mark to call me and sent a email to him. I'm ready to take the head to my machine shop just waiting for mr luton to say yes lol. By the way the porting on your heads are some of the best I've seen. No joke. yeah where heading to knotts in a few. Yeah the heads are very very impressive they look like a stage 3 port in my opinoin was happy to see that
* Vendicated Tuning *"
I am hoping to ship out to MMR next week or better have it repaired locally I can negotiate with mark. I don't want to wait another 3-4 weeks.
