View Full Version : Line Pressures

I have a Lidio tune. I have recently bumped the line pressure from 1-2 (+15%) and from 2-3 (+10%) from his 93 Octane tune.

I was curious to see if I would be able to feel a difference at WOT with the changes. From 1-2 I get a very noticeable tire chirp, rear end kicks to the side, 2-3 is very fast but no rubber.

Am I hurting anything? Lidio's tune shifted very well but I wanted a bit more from 1-2 without getting into the trans yet.

I've seen some posts where people have needed trans rebuilds after adding tunes. Coincidence maybe? Do higher line pressures hurt things? What would be a safe increase over stock?

I've ridden in a DR tuned MM and it shifted very hard, he had Dennis work on his car while down south. My understanding was no internal transmission work had been performed to achieve the firmer shifts, it was all programming.
Thanks in advance.

The higher the line pressure, the longer the trans will live.

Hi Zac, thanks for the fast response.

How much would you consider raising the pressures with the Xcal through tuning. Like I mentioned above I am at +15% and +10% over Lidio's stock 93 tune. I'd like to try 50% to see what happens.................. you think it's too much. I'm not afraid to experiment with it.

With the Xcal I can only see a % increase it does not actually tell me psi unless this is possible in data logging mode. I haven't figured this out yet.

J-mod + Zack tune = FTMFW!!! :banana2:

I know you said you don't want to go into the trans but it's a very simple mod and doesn't take long.

Plus your trans will last longer! WIN, WIN!!!

If the old tune I have is still what he is currently using, the 1-2 line pressure is already maxed out at the 1-2 WOT shift. The 2-3 is far from maxed and you will not achieve max pressure with the user options on the X3.

For reference, on the tune I have (Lidio) the low TP 1-2 has a value of -4 as shipped, where mine would come with a value of 20.

Beats me. Its a canned sct tune with my shift schedule and lowered shift timers.

I'll have a better look at the XCal when I get home, if recall I can lower shift points and will try to raise the pressures in the 2-3. As for the J-Mod I have done this to two other Panthers, it was pretty straight forward. I built the trans in my GN, I had never done this before and it's stood up for several years now and many many 10 sec passes. I just don't like getting dirty anymore and the wife had the driveway interlocked last year so I'm worried about doing oil changes etc at home now. She would kill me if I dropped the trans pan at home. She gets mad when I Armor all the tires in the laneway and leave the dark patches. I just laugh at her and tell her to be good as many of her friends are waiting for their turn with me:))

Either way the Lidio tune has left me quite happy. The MM is much better all around. I'm just one of those guys who likes to tinker and since I could change some of the settings I figured I'd try it out. This car is still new to me and my other cars have all been pretty old school.
