I just pulled the rears for a wheel/wheel well detail and found this....
I actually found this right after I bought the car and had air suspension issues and wrote it off as due to that but 8K miles later, I think I need to change something.
The tires are worn, the passenger side pretty deep, no cord but pretty sketchy
Tires are 285/50 on widened rims.
I am soon to replace with 295/45s do I need spacers?

I would stay away from the spacers, would'nt they rub on the outside then?

My 295's on widened wheels do the same thing Gary......on the 3rd set with no problems!!
Spacers at about 1/8" won't hurt a thing if you are worried!!:shake:

I'm putting on NT555 295/45s
I just put the 255/45s on the front and the sidewall bulge is smaller than the 245/45s I took off.

Me thinks because they are a thinner shock.
Looks like theres rubbing on the shock tower too.

After looking at the Naake site I see the body if the shock is at the axle and the shaft faces up?
That would buy all the room I need.
But @ $369 I think I'll try spacers 1st.

www.maximummotorsports.com. 1/8" spacer for 5 lug. Part #MMWS-6 is what I'm using on my car with 305-45-18s MT ET Street IIs. I had very minor rubbing on the tops of the shocks. Not anywhere near as bad as yours, though.

You might consider changing the WATTS linkage to one of the aftermarket ones with urethane bushings. This would reduce the side-to-side motion of the axel.

John is correct - your Watts linkage and control arms can reduce this rubbing considerably. I have the Metco Watts linkage and control arms and have very little rubbing with 295x45x18 on widened rims. Your situation is very much on the high side of rubbing.

Glenn, I am not sure what this means, please elaborate.
