I was showing a friend my JLT and getting some suggestions on how to make a pipe that wouldn't rub the hood. As he was looking he noticed that the maf was resting on one of the brake lines going into the ABS and was rubbing into it. It had only removed the finish so far but it could have been worse. Please check that your setup is not wearing into your brake lines. Here's what I did to fix it:

Plus I went back to the stock intake tube. I hate the way it rubs on the hood.

Funny thing, I made a list of annoying things to fix and this was one of them. I made a bracket today to lower the JLT in the engine bay, I have an intake spacer so the hood rub got even worse. I did not have the brakeline issue you have but here's a pic of the brackets I welded up to fix my problem.

Good catch!
I did the bracket to my JLT when I first installed it and saw no support in the front.

My JLT's a hybrid, I'm using a Pro-M MAF and their own filter for said MAF, the Pro-M comes with a bracket that looks similar to that to keep it off the brake lines.

I'm not selling the JLT but I went back to the stock tube untill I can figure out the hood rub. I want to paint a hood liner with the godshead but I wont do that untill I can be sure I won't trash it. The JLT tube is too rigid to use with brackets. Muslemerc you're going to need to post pictures of your brackets installed cause I can't picture what anchor points you plan to use. If you use the fender liner holes pick up some rubber fender washers at Ace Hardware. Otherwise the metal washer will cut its way through the plastic. I've done it before.

I just went and looked at mine and the closest part of the MAF housing sits maybe 1.5" or more above the brake lines and is actually past it. My hood rubbing days stopped once I got my cowl hood. I've never had a bracket on mine nor had any problems with it besides it rubbing my factory hood with the liner on it.

Nice mod... I love L brackets and they come in very handy both in the automotive and motorcycle worlds!

Thanks for the alert on the brake lines and the fix. Mine is on the brake line and I will use the bracket to fix it. It does not rub my hood liner enough to worry about it. That could change as it has only been installed a year.

Post up the finished product! I don't have a JLT (K&N), but I always like seeing new and unique mods!

OK, Here's a few pics,as you can see I flipped the shroud around and drilled a hole through it so the bracket will live inside by the air filter. It's out of the way and hardly noticable, I also used rubber washers on the fender mount and a longer SS bolt with a nylon insert nut to finish it up.

I see now. Your using one mounting point on the MAF. I've always had aspirations of making a stainless heat shield that picked up the stock air box mount locations and using trunk weather gasket to seal to the hood liner. One day.....

Yeah but, i'm on the back side so it tightens to the billet adaptor. The Maf has a chance of cracking if you bolt to the front of it. BTW try to make your shield out of ABS plastic so you can keep the temps down

Thanks for posting those Abdul. I should have taken a photo before I installed it and perhaps I should have also let the paint dry:( Anyways, I wanted a place to install the Mafia as well as firm up the JLT.
It's hard to tell but it comes off the first bolt then turns down and levels off again for a shelf to mount the Mafia. Then it turns down again and levels back off for the second mounting bolt with a tab welded to it for the MAF. Looked pretty slick till I scratched half the paint off and touched it up because I was in a hurry.:shake:

Just an idea for you Bob, can you turn the bracket so it sits on the aluminum adaptor on the MAF? You may crack your meter with the bracket on that side

I was actually thinking the same, besides a longer bolt and a nut would work out better.

That's the route I went... I even found a perfect match for the hardware and used a nut with a nylon insert. Thread it through the MAF and bolt the bracket on from the back
