View Full Version : Goodbye Trilogy
The Magnuson MP-112 (Trilogy Eaton) is going to take a rest. It has been a great performer for 3 years but it's time for improvements. I need a blower that will put me in the high 10's/low 11's without adding a second power adder. Below is the answer to my question. Trilogy kit #140 is not for sale, please don't send me a P.M. or E-mails, thank you.

It's a 2.3 Whipple with a max boost rating of 23 pounds. I could have spent the extra cash (600.00) to go with the 3.4 but I didn't.

Martyo told me I needed a blower upgrade while I was at the Heavy Weight Shootout in Atlanta last year. He suggested a Kenne Bell 2.8 or 2.6.

Gotta ask, Mark: Where's the MP-112 headed?

It is the easiest way to deal with the wiper cowl issue. If this wasn't a street car I would remove the wipers period.

To be disabled and inspected. If repairs are needed I will have them done later this year, because I am out of mod money for the year. There are a few locals (CAM members) that have know about the project and requested the blower. I don't want to deal with selling the blower yet. I have to get the car ready for 2 back to back showings at Pinks starting in 2 weeks.

If you are running aftermarket fuel rails, the inlet will need to be unbolted and moved upward to get everything in place.

Nice. might be an upgrade some of the Eaton conversion guys want to try when they need more power.

I have one on my Cobra...just gotta finish the damn thing

Factory rails for now. Looking at 17-18 pounds of boost. I also have a 3.0 pulley that I ordered to move things alone, but that will be a pulley swap for racing fuel only.

Is there something different about the EGR valve/tube location on the Whipple that clears the cowl better than a stock Eaton setup? I know the Trilogy is engineered to fit but does the Whipple move it or not have it?

^^^It's made for a Cobra so the egr should locate the same as the Eaton

Don't think most of the guys use it on the Eaton swaps because it hits the wiper cowl where the little clip on cover is.

Whipple is designed for the EGR to be in the same place as the Cobra Eaton.

I figured that, just wondering wiper cowl clearance and if it was better than the OE Eaton. Are you running an EGR on yours Fordnut?

Good luck! I have a 3.0" upper on my Lysholm and pull about 16psi at peak. I feel it can do more, but I need to get more airflow into the blower first.

I was looking for your feedback. I believe the Lysholm is similar or exactly the Gen 1 Whipple. It's my understanding that the Gen II Whipple not only makes more boost with the same pulley, but runs cooler temps. When you made your 11.2 run was it on a single power adder?
Exciting, please keep us posted.
The install is this weekend and Pinks All Out is the following weekend.

I deleted EGR for the simple reason of wiper cowl interference. I would have preferred to keep it intact.

Casey is out for a short break. He has asked for me to respond approprately, so here goes: "Less than 3 inches, you should be pleased with the performance you get" (because it's the only way you're gonna get performance that pleases anyone with less than that).
Thanks for being here, CBT will be back shortly. Thank-you, E.
P.S., if you miss CBT, please gaze longinly at my avitar for your fix.

Merc knows I love him, we even hugged recently. But I did not know about the, uh, shortcomings. On a serious note, man is his car nicely done. At first glance, you don't even realize there is a roll bar in the car. His racing seats are more comfortable than our regular seats. I'll post a pic or two in a day or two, trying to knock out English paper finals....blah. Looks good, Merc. Hook it up, post pics

Yes, only the blower on 93 gas.
I don't know about Gen 1 vs Gen 2, etc. I do know that my blower is air-starved right now. I peak at 16PSI and then fall back to 14PSI or so after a couple of seconds. I need to open up the air inlet infront of the blower to allow more air before I put a smaller pulley on.
Theoretically, the blower should continue to climb in boost if the air supply is good, and not fall off like it is. I'm certain the car will be easily in the 10's once I get this solved. Also, I have a 2.75" pulley waiting :)
Best,
Rick

Dunk for cover Mark or the Long Tubers will get ya! I can't image someone spending $1,600 to $2,000 for MM LTs, but each to his own. The increase in HP doesn't cover the cost of the performance mod.
Keep us updated and provide photos. Also, give us details of the Pinks event - when and where?

I am sure that you told this to your wife and know she hates me!!!!!
The 3.4 would not have been as good a combo as your new blower.
After laughing at your telescope stories, I am actually afraid to ask any questions

She doesn't hate you yet, but if I have the TH400 installed at your shop then it's another story. That's next on my mod trail plus C-clip eliminators.

If you're running an Eaton (roots) blower it's normal for boost to drop off. With a Whipple or Kenne Bell (twin screw) the boost is basically a flat line.

I think Chris Vining was telling me months ago that the trilogy air intake is restrictive and would drive IAT temperatures up. Whipple and KB offer various type of inlets depending on your level of performance.

The restrictive intake is also boost-limiting.
