The FM on my stock radio died out. The Am tape and CD work fine. The FM had been working ok, then going on and off until is finally died!

Now when you try the Frequency Modulation band, all that is herd is silence, no sputter or crackle!

So I assume it is not a loose wire or somthing that can be easily fixed.

Has Anyone else had the same problem? If so was it an relatively easy fix?

If not I assume I will have to swap out this radio and get a exact stock replacement, as I have the CD changer in the trunk.

Anyone have a stock radio you took out to upgrade and want to sell it?

Let me know please!

If you used the search function, you'd find that this is a common problem. The radio can be fixed or replaced or a new aftermarket head unit installed.

That is pretty common. I bought Martyo's and it works great. Keep an eye out in the part fs section. Ask jdenning002 also. I think he had a couple for sale, not sure if he still does though. Itr's a five minute swap out with two parts of a wire coat hanger bent in a U shape...

I use my tape daily. I have one of those tape-audio jack converter things for the mp3 player. :P

Same here, that's how I got FM radio actually when the FM tuner died out on my stock radio, I just plugged in a tape-to-cd converter and jacked it into a little jogger's radio and bam there I had FM again.

Now the head unit I replaced the stock one with has a front-mounted USB port so I keep a 4 gig thumb drive with all my tunes on it and use that for music. ;)

HaHa, I saw a blank cassette tape on sale at the counter of the convenience store the other day and had to laugh.

Back to the original post. I have my original radio if you're interested. Took it out for a Pioneer Navi last year. Car only had 27k miles at the time, and it worked perfectly. I have no idea how much it's worth, but let me know if you're interested.

Here's (http://www.videoservicestop.com/radiorepairs/ford.htm) a place that repairs factory car stereos for a flat rate, no matter what's wrong with it. Waymon (1stMerc) used them and was happy and I have a radio to send up there myself, just haven't done it yet...I'll post a review when I get it back.

Good advise on using a CD to tape converter to make the FM work! I will try it out!
